Pokemon GO players have plenty to stay busy with this fall thanks to events like the Fashion Week tie-in, the Niantic anniversary event, and the upcoming Halloween festivities. Those events are sure to be quickly followed by a long list of other holiday celebrations that span November through early January, but that’s not all that’s going on. A new sponsored partner event is coming to Mexico and bringing an exciting opportunity to catch a brand new shiny in the mobile AR game.
The upcoming event is a partnership with 7-Eleven and offers players who have earned entry to the event some special temporary field research in addition to other event bonuses. One of the most exciting parts of the event for many players will likely be the addition of shiny Ferroseed and its evolution to Pokemon GO.
Although shiny Ferroseed is being added to the game’s list of rare shiny Pokemon as part of the event, it’s unclear at this point whether the shiny will be available to other players after the event concludes. Hopefully that’s the case, but if not, perhaps the shiny will return in an event that is available globally sometime in the near future.
For players who are in the eligible region, here is everything that there is to know about the event so far…
Buy $ 150 pesos or more in 7-Eleven stores
Register your ticket in the 7-Eleven app before October 21, 2020
Once your ticket has been validated, you will receive your access code by email on October 26, 2020
The 7-Eleven Pokémon GO Special Weekend will take place on November 7 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in your local time. You can only experience the event bonuses during this period of time, and only within Mexico.
Temporary field research that includes items like Incense, Star Chunk, and Mega Charizard Energy. In addition to different tasks with encounters with Pokémon such as: Spoink, Sewaddle, Sunkern, Bronzor, Gible and Chansey.
When you redeem your code, you will receive an exclusive event medal in Pokémon GO.
During the event, the incense will attract the Unown “S” and “E”, as well as Pokémon species such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Sableye, Charizard, Patrat, Mawile and Minccino. If you’re lucky, you might catch a Shiny Ferroseed!
The sponsored event is definitely pretty exciting considering the new shiny and the opportunity to catch some Unowns, but it’s a shame it is limited to just a single region. Many players won’t get a chance to participate, but hopefully similar events will roll out in other regions in the near future. Until then, players can keep their fingers crossed that the new shiny becomes available worldwide after the event concludes…
For now, Pokemon GO trainers should be able to head out into the world (or play from home) and continue catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
