Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix in the works to address crashing

Larian Studios are working on a hotfix for multiplayer and crashing issues in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is in Early Access, and it appears there have been some crashing issues.

The issues will be addressed in a hotfix, but in the meantime, the developer has offered a few workarounds until the problems are solved.

For now, the team suggests switching the game to DX11 instead of Vulkan which can be changed by clicking on the icon next to ‘play game’ on the launcher. Here, you can then select DX11 mode.

One of the things Larian found will crash the game is when you leave the tutorial level by activating the transponder at the helm while the player character is downed in combat. So don’t do that, apparently.

As far as multiplayer is concerned, don’t save the game during cinematics and avoid listening in to a conversation in co-op that has ended. Also, if the host saves directly after combat, the game will also crash. So, “save with caution.”

The game entered Early Access yesterday and is considered Act 1 of the story campaign. It will last around 20 hours.

In this phase,  the game features eight races with subraces, and six classes, along with five companions you can romance.

Currently without a release date, Larian expects the game to be in Early Access for at least a year on GOG, Stadia, and Steam.
