Sony Leaks PS5 Trophy Progress Tracking Feature | Game Rant

Some more changes may be made to trophies as PlayStation France revealed the addition of a tracking system being implemented to both the upcoming PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Revealed in a now deleted blog post, the upcoming change will keep track of the progress of a trophy, showing players what’s still needed in order to acquire any trophies on both consoles.

This means trophies that require a certain amount of collectables, kills or wins are easy to keep track of, especially when there is uncertainty how much more work is needed on the player’s end. While the tracking update has been removed off of the blog, a likely case is that the announcement will be officially made once the progress update is ready to launch on PlayStation.

This change is sure to be welcomed with open arms by PlayStation fans looking to maximize their efforts when going for that hard-to-earn platinum trophy. With so many games having online specific trophies it can be tough to parse whether a player should focus on a certain weapon in Call of Duty, preform a certain fatality in Mortal Kombat, or use a certain summon in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

The change comes along with a revamped progression system to PlayStation trophies that Sony announced earlier today with an increase in the level cap from 100 to 999. Player’s trophy progress will adjust accordingly once the new update hits with the new changes in mind. Another big upcoming change will be the values of each trophy earned towards levelling up, this means all trophies, including platinum trophies, will be worth much more than in previous years, making that platinum trophy much more worthwhile.

The revamped progression system is expected to be implemented this week in preparation for the launch of the PlayStation 5, with a little over a month until the console’s November 12 launch date. Earlier this week Sony released technical tear down video of the Playstation 5, detailing the inner workings of the console and what players can expect on launch day.

The tear down explained how the PlayStation 5 will deal with heat with the use of a sizeable fan and a unique liquid metal cooling system as a thermal conductor. Sony has spent more than two years in creating and testing different ways to deal with the heat generated by the console, especially with the promise of the fast SSD.

Meanwhile, Sony has high expectations for the PlayStation 5 in terms of sales as Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan told Korean website Naver the Sony is expecting the console to have higher PS5 sales numbers in its first year when compared to the PS4 when the console launched in 2013. Despite pre-orders running out fairly quickly, Ryan stated that a second wave will hit soon and help with the demand of the console.

The PlayStation 5 launches November 12.
