While it is fairly easy to catch a Sneasel in Pokemon Sword and Shield, as they can be found with consistency along Route 8, evolving one can be a bit confusing. Indeed, fans that wish to evolve a Sneasel into a Weavile will need to jump through several hoops, and exactly what those hoops are may not be immediately clear to every player. Fortunately, fans should have little trouble evolving a Sneasel in Pokemon Sword and Shield with just a bit of instruction.
The first step to evolving a Sneasel in Pokemon Sword and Shield is to obtain a Razor Claw, and that can be done in a variety of ways. The easiest of these ways is to simply go to the Dusty Bowl Wild Area, navigate to the small body of water in the middle, and use Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s Water Rotom Bike to cross to the tiny island. Upon arriving on this island, players will see that there is an item on the ground, and indeed that item is the Razor Claw.
Alternatively, fans can purchase a Razor Claw in Pokemon Sword and Shield from two different vendors. The first of these vendor can be found along the right-most wall in the Hammerlocke Pokemon Center after completing the game, and they will sell players a Razor Claw for 10 Battle Points. The other vendor is located in Stow on Side, and fans will need to check back frequently for a Razor Claw, as their offerings change daily.
After the player has obtained a Razor Claw, they should then equip it to their Sneasel. Now fans simply need to level up this Sneasel, but that must occur at night (after 8pm) for the evolution to happen. Notably, players that have not yet reached Pokemon Sword and Shield‘s post-game should look to do this leveling in a Wild Area, as those are the only zones affected by the day-night cycle at that point in the game, while fans that have finished the story can evolve Sneasel in the Routes.
For those Pokemon Sword and Shield players that do not want to wait until nighttime to evolve Sneasel, it is possible to expedite the process through a Switch’s System Settings. More specifically, a fan can set their Switch’s clock manually through the Date and Time section of Settings, and putting it past 8pm will allow them to perform the evolution straightaway.
Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on Nintendo Switch.
