Is Party Animals Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch? | Game Rant

The last couple of months have seen many indie games suddenly exploding in popularity. Titles like Fall Guys, Among Us, and, most recently, Phasmophobia have become sensations on Twitch and elsewhere practically overnight. Now, it looks like the cartoon brawler Party Animals may be the next game to join that list of surprise hits.

People started to take notice of the game when a demo was released on Steam last week as part of the latest Steam Game Festival. Like with the aforementioned titles, a number of popular streamers have been playing it, leading to word-of-mouth marketing that resulted in the game reaching 110,000 concurrent players over the weekend. With this much buzz surrounding the demo, it’s possible the full game could follow Fall Guys and Among Us’ lead and end up with millions of players.

Developed by Chinese studio Recreate Games, Party Animals is a fighting game currently on Steam where players control a cast of stubby-limbed animals including cats, dogs, and plenty more. The game includes different modes along with a variety of maps, all centered around the main objective of knocking players off the stage and being the last one standing.

Adding to the comedy of watching cute critters pummel one another is the game’s use of ragdoll physics, similarly to games like Gang Beasts and Human: Fall Flat, which can make matches unpredictable as players flail around and hurl themselves through the air trying to get the drop on their opponents. Add to that a selection of weapons that appear on the stage; such as bats, tennis rackets, and freeze guns; and things get even more madcap.

Since the demo is only available on Steam, it’s a given that Party Animals will be out on PC at some point, but as the demo becomes more popular fans are wondering if they will be able to play it elsewhere. The good news is that Party Animals will be heading to multiple platforms soon, as Recreate announced in a press release from July that the game is slated to launch on “PC and consoles in late 2020.”

Unfortunately, it’s yet to be specified which consoles the game is coming to. The PS4 seems like a safe bet, as does the Xbox One (which would also make the game playable on the Xbox Series X). The Switch, however, seems less likely given a lot of developers tend to consider it separately from other consoles. At any rate, while fans wait for an answer to this question, they can still try out the Steam demo, which will be available until October 13.

Party Animals will launch later this year for PC and unspecified consoles.
