The holiday season is right around the corner and with two new consoles hitting the market, it is likely going to be a big (and expensive) season for gamers. There are a ton of new games launching for both the current and next-gen consoles to help get the community excited and engaged over the holiday months. One of the most anticipated titles is Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Although there was initially some confusion over whether this game is a true sequel with a full campaign or more like an extended DLC, most of that has been clarified at this point. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a full, standalone experience that builds on the world that was presented in Spider-Man, similar to how Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was a standalone follow up to Uncharted 4.
Miles has been a fan-favorite Marvel Comics character for years now and, thanks to Into the Spider-Verse, he’s also become a household name for Marvel fans who don’t read all the comics and just stick to the movies. He was introduced in Spider-Man PS4 and the game definitely setup his origin story very well, but it won’t be until this November that gamers will get a chance to take control of the Miles version of Spidey and his unique power set.
As hype continues to build for game’s launch, fans may want to revisit every trailer for Spider-Man: Miles Morales that has already dropped. There have only been a few so far, but they are well worth rewatching as everyone waits for the Insomniac game to arrive later this year.
First off is the announcement trailer that dropped back in June. This primarily cinematic trailer sets up Miles as the hero, but doesn’t get into very much detail about gameplay or the actual plot of the new adventure, aside from Miles being the hero. Regardless, it was still a great teaser and setup for the extended gameplay demo that would follow a few months later.
During September’s PS5 livestream event gamers finally got a chance to really see Spider-Man: Miles Morales in action. This nearly eight minute long gameplay demo offers a look at both the Miles and Spidey aspects of the gameplay. The engine looks incredibly sharp and the combat section really does a great job highlighting just how different Miles’ skillset and abilities are from Peter’s. Although both heroes have the power of a spider, they have very different fighting styles and techniques, which should help make this game feel like a brand new experience.
With November 12 just one short month away, there are certain to be many other teasers, TV spots, and launch trailers arriving in the very near future. Be sure to check back to see how those look and what else Insomniac and Sony are willing to tease or share before the official launch of the game.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches November 12, 2020, for PS4 and PS5.
