Kaceytron DREAMS Cosplay Is Perfect and Terrifying | Game Rant

Fans of Twitch and Youtube streamers may have already seen the pictures, but celebrated gamer and Twitch broadcaster, Kaceytron, has recently taken to Twitter with a brand new profile picture. Kaceytron, known for her love of cosplay, and perhaps in the spirit of Halloween, has created a completely new look, based on the iconic avatar used by Minecraft streamer, “Dream.”

Dream’s signature avatar shares the graphic simplicity of Minecraft, and Kaceytron has without a doubt perfectly encapsulated its simplistic whimsy. By taking advantage of bold makeup choices and a bright, in-your-face, lime green background, she has elevated her cosplay to a terrifying degree; it’s almost as if Kaceytron’s new profile picture is itself an act of cosplay, rather than a mere picture of Kaceytron cosplaying.

For readers less familiar with the realm of Twitch and Youtube (“YT”) streamers, Kaceytron has made waves with her contributions to the streaming community as a respected World of Warcraft player and devout League of Legends troll. She is also known for wholeheartedly committing to cosplay during streams, and has amassed upwards of 400,000 followers on her Twitch account.

In 2014, Kaceytron drew attention for having her “Subscribe” button removed by Twitch, despite it lacking a substantial reason. Especially since then, Kaceytron has been a particularly vocal advocate for gamers who identify as women, and for gamers who may have faced sexual harassment in the industry.

She drew criticism in March of 2020 for making a callous COVID-19 joke, which also led to an indefinite ban from the Twitch platform. That being said, Kaceytron has since publicly apologized for the incident, and taken full responsibility for what she insists were inappropriate remarks, regardless of their framing as a joke.

Dream, on the other hand, is most well-known for his endeavors in the blocky hit, Minecraft. Much like Minecraft is late to the Smash Bros. party, Dream is a relatively recent arrival to the streaming industry. Yet, despite his 2019 start, Dream has made a name for himself, and is often recognized by his incredibly simplistic stick-figure avatar. Bearing this in mind, fans can’t help but appreciate Kaceytron’s tongue-in-cheek swing at Dream.

Cosplay is already an act of performative fun in and of itself, but to dress up as a “character” as basic as a colorless stick person is an entirely new level of artful satire. This sort of total commitment to fun and community is refreshing, especially in light of some of the drama commonly associated with the professional gaming industry. Seeing a successful streamer acknowledge the success of another by literally dressing up as their symbol is surely a sign of respect, if any.
