Spider-Man: Miles Morales Video Shows New PS5 Gameplay

It doesn’t feel like all that long ago that PlayStation announced Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the follow-up to the 2018 PS4 game. However, Miles Morales is now only a month away, so fans will be swinging around New York once again before they know. A new video contains some previously unseen gameplay, and it looks like an evolution of the game fans are familiar with.

The footage, which is part of Game Informer’s upcoming coverage of the game, contains a few different elements fans are already accustomed to. It should come as no surprise that Spider-Man: Miles Morales represents a graphical leap over its predecessor, and nowhere is this more clear than the glimpses of Miles swinging through the city, which looks far sharper than what the PS4 game was able to muster.

Fans see a few other Spider-Man staples, though the footage is relatively brief. Insomniac shared some of Miles Morales’ combat in September, but the new gameplay shows a few different environments that players will duke it out in. The abilities in the video do look pretty similar to Peter Parker’s fighting style, though Miles does seem to have his own flair sprinkled in.

There are also some brief segments that show Miles’ unique abilities, like invisibility. The UI is different, likely to accommodate for those new abilities, though Insomniac has shown that off at a few different points. The clips don’t dive into the game’s narrative at all, but Insomniac may simply want to preserve as many surprises as possible before the game releases.

Following Spider-Man PS4’s successMiles Morales has big shoes to fill. The game’s initial reveal came as something of a surprise, with many assuming that the gap between the first game and the new one would be much larger. However, it’s now one of the biggest PlayStation-exclusives releasing this fall, for both the PS5 and the PS4.

Insomniac Games has remained relatively tight-lipped about the project, but new information will likely start to spill out as the game approaches its launch date. There have been a few demos, which fans should expect more of, but for the most part, it remains a mystery. Spider-Man: Miles Morales likely won’t be too drastic of a departure from the original game, and Insomniac has made clear this isn’t a full sequel, but it does seem to be bringing a lot of its own elements to the table.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches November 12 for PS4 and PS5.
