When it comes to breakout games this year, few can measure up to InnerSloth’s Among Us, as the mobile and PC-based multiplayer game has amassed a huge audience in a short amount of time. The hugely popular game has gone on to spawn a lot of community content in its wake, including memes, fan art, and even an intricately-designed cake.
However, Reddit user iambackbit showed off one of the most impressive community projects yet in a recent post, highlighting a fully-explorable 3D version of Among Us’ The Skeld map designed using Unreal Engine 4. The project is incredibly detailed, with the Reddit user making sure every room resembles its 2D counterpart from the game.
Seeing as most players are very familiar with The Skeld and its tasks at this point, iambackbit will likely impress fans of the game with their recreation of the map in the Unreal Engine. Starting in the cafeteria, the video winds its way through the spaceship, peering in atAmong Us locations like Medbay, Shields, and Electrical. The Reddit user has done their best to make sure every room is accurate, including the vent that makes Electrical an advantageous position for imposters, the futuristic table present in Admin, and the crates that sit in the center of Storage. There’s even some Among Us characters completing various tasks.
Speaking on the project in a YouTube video, iambackbit reveals that the map took 12 hours to design, and they ran viewers through the process of recreating the level. Along the way, they detail how they designed each of the rooms and their corresponding furniture items, running through everything from the Cafeteria’s distinctive tables to how they ensured the level’s lighting wasn’t too bright. All in all, the map turned out well, giving players a new perspective on one of Among Us‘ most popular level.
As for other community projects, fans have already contributed some great content to display their love for InnerSloth’s work. One Twitter user showed off a cake she’d made featuring several Among Us avatars as well as the emergency button, while another player animated some new kill sequences based on iconic anime moves. Much like Fall Guys did back in August, Among Us is managing to quickly build itself a dedicated community that is passionate about the game and those who play it, so it will be interesting to see what other fan projects come out in the future.
Among Us is out now on PC and mobile devices.
