Terraria Releases Final Update to Version 1.4.1 | Game Rant

Earlier this May, Terraria released its final update ever, with version 1.4 or “Journey’s End” wrapping up the slate of content the developers planned to bring to the game. Today, the team released a final patch for that update, with version 1.4.1 adding some of the final touches that weren’t quite ready for the official release of Journey’s End.

The patch itself brings a host of new additions alongside some much-needed quality of life improvements, with new vanity items, achievements, and an NPC being added to Terraria‘s world. Right now, 1.4.1 is only available on PC, with Re-Logic not specifying when fans playing on console or mobile devices will get their hands on the final update.

As for what’s featured in the patch, one of the biggest additions is the Vanity Contest Winner sets, which add the six winning costumes from a recent competition that challenged fans to make outfits for the game. Included in these designs are the Plaguebringer, the Wandering Ronin, the Timeless Traveller, the Floret Protector, the Capricorn, and the TV Head contest submissions.

According to Re-Logic, all the costumes will be craftable with “pre-Hardmode materials,” meaning players should be able to start wearing the stylish community created garbs without having to invest hours into the game. 1.4.1 will also be adding credits, with the game displaying them after the player defeats the Moon Lord for the first time.

Other features include a new Terraria NPC called The Princess – who Re-Logic challenges players to discover on their own – and brand new achievements to unlock. There’s also several new items that the studio claim are mostly focused around “filling out the early/pre-hardmode Summoner options” as well as an overhaul to how the vanity gear system currently works. While the latter used to only let players assign one item in the “back” slot, it will now let them assign four, allowing players to wear a cape, wings, and a tail all at the same time should they so desire.

Of course, to round things out, the update also offers some crucial bug fixes and balancing changes. It seems there’s been a huge effort to optimize the game’s challenge for diehard fans as this final update rolls out, with the team advising players to take a look at the patch notes as “a little bit of everything has been impacted here.” Overall, it seems as though Terraria has well and truly brought the big guns for its final update. Although fans are sad that the game’s frequent stream of new content is finally coming to an end, it’s definitely the start of an exciting new chapter for Re-Logic.

Terraria is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
