The highly anticipated release of Cris Tales has been delayed to 2021 as more time is needed to develop the game’s mechanics and account for player feedback.
Announced in a blog post by Carlos Rocha Silva, CEO of Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK, Cris Tales was originally scheduled to release on November 17, with the development team citing the extra work needed due to Cris Tales unique time mechanics. Silva goes on to say that every character affected by the time mechanic needs different variations to show time’s effect, giving the developer extra work to focus on to ensure the player is getting the best experience.
One of the many games showcased during Gamescom 2020, Cris Tales tells the story of a Time Mage named Crisbell who is joined by some unique companions in a battle against the Time Empress. Players will venture across several kingdoms where they will meet and recruit powerful allies to join the adventure and save the fantasy world from a dark future.
In July, Modus Games released a demo of Cris Tales on the Nintendo eshop. The publisher intentionally waited until Colombian Independence Day to release the demo as the game takes heavy inspiration from Colombian culture, the developer even released a blog post with information detailing the Colombian influence on the game. The demo, which is also available on PC, allows players to sample the battle system which is said to be inspired by classic JRPGs and offers unique time altering mechanics that effect the player and enemies in the game.
Cris Tales will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
