Resident Evil 4 Remake Will Be Special for the PS5 | Game Rant

After the releases of both the Resident Evil 2 remake and the Resident Evil 3 remake, many fans are wondering about the possibility for a Resident Evil 4 remake. With the PlayStation 5 also being on the horizon, players are hoping for its release on the brand new console for the next generation of gaming.

Capcom hasn’t put out any word regarding Resident Evil 4‘s future and possible remakes, but fans still want to see more of Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong. The Resident Evil 2 remake has brought back the eyes of fans back on these two characters, making the hype behind this remake even stronger than ever.

While Resident Evil 8 is going to be coming out for the PlayStation 5 as well, a remake of Resident Evil 4 could have the potential to be one of the most beloved horror games for the system, if not games in general. There are multiple reasons for this regarding the original game’s influence.

It is no question that Resident Evil 4 is widely beloved by fans of the Resident Evil series. While it has many hiccups, it also is host to many fan-favorite characters and enemies that pursue Leon and Ashley throughout the creepy European village the game takes place in.

Just skimming the internet will reveal that Resident Evil 4 is often listed in players’ top ten lists for favorite or best PlayStation 2 games. This could mean that a rework of what has already been established could potentially make for a great remake for the PlayStation 5. With modern game design philosophies and lessons learned from the past, far more can be done to improve on the original.

The love for Resident Evil 4 can be further met with how newer Resident Evil fans are now familiar with Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong via the Resident Evil 2 remake. With these characters far more fresher in their minds, players would be excited to see them again as they adventure through terrors and horrors alike.

A lot has changed in the gaming industry since 2005 without a doubt. Because of this, modern gamers that try to go back to the original Resident Evil 4 after playing the more recent titles may be put off by its pacing and controls. This however brings a lot of potential for improvements if the game were to be remade for this modern audience.

The remake for Resident Evil 4 would likely have controls more similar to the remakes for Resident Evil 2 and 3 with the level design changing to match this. The constant need to protect Ashley would also likely be reworked completely to make her less of an annoyance for players and more of an asset. Other more criticized aspects of the game would also likely be fixed and smoothed out for the new generation of games.

Considering how popular the original Resident Evil 4 was, it would likely be just as popular for the PlayStation 5 as the other remakes for Resident Evil games were for the PlayStation 4. However, the possibility of Resident Evil 4 returning still remains a mystery.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake is rumored to be in development.
