Pokemon GO – Arlo Lineup And Counters (October 2020) | Game Rant

Pokemon GO trainers have another chance to face off against all of the Team GO Rocket bosses this month as they work through the current event and explore the new world of strange red eggs. The usual grunts and bosses are all back and attempting to cause problems around the map, so players should start getting ready to chase them off.

Sierra, Cliff, Arlo, and even Giovanni are all available to challenge currently and each of the bosses has made a few updates to their roster that will make it necessary for trainers to alter the counter rosters that they had used last time around. Arlo is returning to Pokemon GO with a handful of familiar Pokemon, but one notable change.

This time around players should be able to reuse most of their Arlo counters from the last time the enemy appeared, but they do also need to prepare for one big change. Arlo is using Growlithe in their first slot, which means players should select and power up a new Pokemon to start off the fight. After that point, trainers can use the usual strategy of seeing which Pokemon Arlo is using in slots two and three and optimizing their roster for a quick rematch if needed.

Growlithe

Charizard or Blastoise or Steelix

Scizor or Dragonite or Salamence

Regirock – Lock On/Stone Edge

Golem – Mud Shot/Rock Blast

Omastar – Mud Shot/Rock Slide

Swampert – Mud Shot/Hydro Cannon

Alolan Golem – Rock Throw/Rock Blast

Rhyperior – Smack Down/Surf

Tyranitar – Smack Down/Crunch

Golem – Mud Shot/Rock Blast

Heatran – Fire Spin/Flamethrower

Entei – Fire Spin/Flamethrower

Blaziken – Counter/Blaze Kick

Leafeon – Quick Attack/Leaf Blade

Venusaur – Vine Whip/Frenzy Plant

Dragonite – Dragonbreath/Dragon Claw

Tyranitar – Smack Down/Crunch

Regice – Lock On/Blizzard

Giratina – Dragon Breath/Dragon Claw

Heatran – Fire Spin/Flamethrower

Moltres – Fire Spin/Overthrow

Charizard – Fire Spin/Blast Burn

Dialga – Dragonbreath/Draco Meteor

Gyarados – Dragonbreath/Twister

Regice – Lock On/Blizzard

With that lineup of Pokemon, players should be able to easily counter any configuration of challengers that Arlo shows up to the fight with. There are obviously lots of other Pokemon that can work as substitutes for this ideal roster, but most players shouldn’t have much trouble assembling the team recommended above.

All of those Pokemon are very relevant to the current Pokemon GO PvE and PvP metagame, so it’s worth investing in them beyond this fight anyway. Use TMs and Rare Candy wisely if they are needed to take down this challenger.

For now, Pokemon GO trainers should be able to head out into the world (or play from home) and continue catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
