It was another big reveal week for Destiny 2 and it’s quickly approaching expansion. This time around, Bungie dropped tons of details on all of the next-generations features players can expect when they boot up the game on a Xbox Series X|S or PS5. Details include 60 FPS, cross-gen play, faster load times, and a new Field of View Slider. The PS5 and Xbox Series X also get 4K visuals, while the Series S will stop at 1080p resolution.
As exciting as this may be, the news also came with a bit of an unfortunate confirmation. While the next generation begins in November, Destiny 2 won’t be getting many of these features until December 8. According to Bungie, the extra time is needed to ensure that any potential bugs and issues can be ironed out. With that said, cross-gen play and faster loading times will be available on next-gen launch day.
For now, the Festival of the Lost is on-going and with the weekend here, it’s time for players to pay a visit to Xur, the exotic merchant who arrives inside of Destiny 2 each weekend. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of October 16, 2020.
Over the next few days, Xur can be found hanging out in his cave within Giant’s Scar on Io.
Once loaded in, immediately head through the building into the area with the large drill in the center. Head left through the gate and follow the edges of the zone to the top left corner of the map where Xur is hiding in a cave.
Keep in mind that Xur is no longer selling collection rolled gear, a welcomed change of pace from the past few years. The armor he now has features randomized stats and perks, which should revitalize player interest in what the merchant has each week. In addition, players can use an Exotic Cypher to purchase a second fated engram from the merchant.
Here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:
Getaway Artist – Warlock gauntlets
Introduced during the Season of the Drifter, the Getaway Artist gauntlets are focused on Stormcaller Warlocks. Dynamic Duo converts the arc grenade into a supercharged Arc Soul. Better yet, the Arc Soul then functions as an autonomous turret.
While this isn’t a top tier Warlock exotic that will likely replace anything in the current meta, the appealing aspect to these gloves are the stat rolls for this week. Recovery and Discipline in particular are quite high and perhaps worth a purchase this week.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +6
- Resilience +7
- Recovery +18
- Discipline +18
- Intellect +9
- Strength +2
Lucky Raspberry – Hunter chest armor
A classic exotic item from the base version of Destiny 2, the Lucky Raspberry remains a somewhat underwhelming exotic. This item specifically targets arc-bolt users, so they can be safely ignored for everyone else. Through the Probability Matrix perk, Arc Bolt grenades have increased chaining capabilities and also have a chance to recharge each time it deals damage. A full chain always recharges..
Naturally, this exotic offers zero value for players not using arc bolt grenades. Ultimately, there are better options available so this is another item players can pass on.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +9
- Resilience +13
- Recovery +10
- Discipline +12
- Intellect +10
- Strength +8
Dunemarchers – Titan boots
It’s Dunemarchers weekend for Titan players. Linear Actuators increase the player’s sprint speed and also builds up a static charge. When using a melee attack on an opponent, the charge is released and chains damage to all nearby enemies.
While these are a fun exotic to mess around with, their actual utility may vary from person to person. Still, they’re worth picking up for those who don’t have them as they can cause some pretty big damage when paired with certain Titan subclasses like bottom tree Striker or middle tree Sunbreaker. One other thing to consider is that the roll on these boots this week are quite good and may warrant a purchase for those who already own them.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +16
- Resilience +3
- Recovery +13
- Discipline +14
- Intellect +13
- Strength +2
Half a year later, Xur has brought back the heavy linear fusion rifle known as The Queenbreaker. It allows players to pick how they want the gun to fire. Through Marksman sights, players can stack additional damage with long-range sights that also display ammo and charge levels. The tradeoff is that it takes the gun a little longer to fully charge before firing. Combat sights give the player faster charges and greater handling, though they can’t zoom in as far.
The exotic perk for this weapon is called Wire Rifle which fires a long range precision Arc bolt that blinds enemies on hit. Players can also change the sights on it which impacts charge time and damage. This is a bit of a skill weapon so it won’t be for everyone. However, those who give it a chance will find that it’s pretty useful in the right situations, even though it requires heavy ammo.
Additional perks:
- Enhanced Battery
- Fitted Stock
- Hip Fire Grip/Quickdraw
Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for October 16, 2020:
- Getaway Artist (Warlock gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Lucky Raspberry (Hunter chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Dunemarchers (Titan boots) – 23 Legendary Shards
- The Queenbreaker (Heavy Linear Fusion Rifle) – 29 Legendary Shards
- Fated Engram – 97 Legendary Shards
- Five of Swords Challenge Card
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
