Of course, while every single class will have its own unique perks and abilities, the Samurai is definitely the perfect choice for players who like to play the tank’s role in Ghost of Tsushima. Now, for those interested in knowing more about the Samurai, here is a detailed breakdown of the class, including a general overview of what it offers, its abilities, and equipment.

As previously mentioned, the Samurai takes on the tank role in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, making it a default choice for most players. This class is most effective at close range and capable of self-healing, making it the perfect choice as the frontline in battles. Of course, given the Samurai’s ability to endure waves upon waves of enemies, it is the perfect choice for solo play or as the center of a team in multiplayer.

Additionally, given the Samurai’s effectiveness in dealing with multiple enemies and its ability to heal itself, it is widely considered the best all-around class in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, making it the perfect choice for beginner players. So for those who are looking for the most balanced and well-suited character for beginners, the Samurai is the perfect choice given its ability to endure multiple hits. Overall, the Samurai Class is the most fun to play, especially for players who prefer a high-paced hack and slash gameplay.

Given the role of the Samurai as the tank and as the leader in the frontlines, it is given a wide range of abilities and equipment that leans toward the offensive and defense. Its primary weapon consists of a sword, but the Samurai is also given a ranged weapon such as the half bow. Moreover, the Samurai has two Quickfire Gears, such as the Dirt Throw and Healing Ground, which the player can utilize to ensure that the Samurai stands their ground in the heat of battle.

On the other hand, the Samurai Class also features several abilities that players can unlock as they level up, which include the following:

Hachiman’s Fury: Rank 1 Ultimate – The first skill in the skill tree that players will have access to is Hachiman’s Fury, which allows the player to strike multiple opponents with lightning speed inflicting heavy damage. Players can utilize Hachiman’s Fury when dealing with a strong enemy and battling three foes at once.

Spirit Pull – Rank 1 Class Ability – Next is Spirit Pull, an effective ability that will allow the Samurai to fight for a longer time during battles. Spirit Pull will suck away health from nearby enemies passively, healing the Samurai. While this ability is active, the Samurai will remain a threat among enemies given its healing capabilities allowing the Samurai to stand its ground.

Explosive Blade: Rank 10 Class Ability – Explosive Blade does exactly as its name suggests. When active, this ability gives every strike of a melee weapon with an explosive edge, inflicting more damage with every hit. However, players should know that Explosive Blade has a cooldown period of 36 seconds, which is why players ensure that they use this ability at the perfect time.

Other abilities that can be unlocked with the Samurai Class are as follows:

  • Defender: Rank 2 Perk 1 – gives players 25 more health.
  • Deep Strikes: Rank 7 Perk 1 – increases melee damage by 10%.
  • Samurai Unleashed: Rank 14 Perk 1 – reduces all the Class Ability cooldown rates by 15%.
  • Lighting Reflexes: Rank 3 Perk 2 – automatically parries incoming arrows while blocking.
  • Critical Defence: Rank 9 Perk 2 – increased parry and dodge window while at low health.
  • Resolve Increase: Rank 16 Perk 2 – increase max Resolve by 1
  • Heavenly Strike: Rank 5 Perk 3 – perform an unlockable quick strike.
  • Hachiman’s Frenzy: Rank 11 Perk 3 – Hachiman’s Fury gains 2 extra strikes.
  • Legendary: Rank 18 Perk 3 – Increases the number of Legendary Items you can equip by 1.

For those who are still unsure whether the Samurai is the perfect class for their preferred gameplay, it’s safe to say that players can’t go wrong in choosing this class. Of course, others may also consider other classes such as the Assassin, Ronin, or Hunter. Still, for beginner players or for those looking to play as the primary warrior in the game, the Samurai is most definitely the obvious choice. In recap, the Samurai Class is most effective at close range and can take down multiple enemies at once. However, the Samurai is best when its self-healing perks such as Spirit Pull are utilized in every battle.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now for PS4 and will be playable on PS5.
