The free-to-play battle royale Apex Legends is ramping up for Season 7, and the hype is building. A new fan-made trailer has come out which features one of the most wholesome members of the game’s cast: Pathfinder. The Mobile Robotic Versatile Entity, or MRVN, is the perfect subject for his own Apex Legends trailer because of his strong personality.
This chipper robot, with a single-minded goal of finding his creator, has gone through some changes since his original creation. For one, his zipline has been extended, and the cooldown is longer. However, his mission remains the same. It may never be possible in the context of the game, but he can still make a big impact on fellow Legends and players. The new trailer captures the story of the droid and his maker in just a minute and a half.
This trailer by YouTuber Tenpindan starts with a dimly-lit workshop, and a friendly Pathfinder who boots up to discover that he is all alone with no one around, not even his creator. A mysterious note designating the name “Marvin” is the only clue he has to his origin or purpose. The goal in Apex Legends is to kill as many competitors as possible and become the Apex champion, so Marvin quickly finds himself running alongside teammates on the battlefield.
When it comes to the canon Pathfinder, he is about as selfless and easygoing as they come. His cheery and friendly demeanor makes him the least likely member of the party to get thrown off a cliff by teammates. He greets his fellow Legends with a smile on his chest and an upbeat attitude at all times. He will sooner high-five and apologize to someone he has just shot, followed up with a question about the whereabouts of his creator, than hold any true malice towards even his opponents.
Some fans were disappointed that Respawn Entertainment had no intention of adding Marvin’s creator Forge as a Legend in Season 7. However, not only would he be a melee character in a gun-based game, but it would be heartbreaking if Pathfinder found himself in the position of having to shoot his beloved creator. No friendly robot should ever have to make that choice.
Respawn Entertainment is known for being enthusiastic about fan-made trailers, such as another recent piece made for the Legend Bloodhound. This Pathfinder video is worth a watch for fans of the game who want to have more time with the friendly robot.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
