As it stands, the Xbox Series X is significantly lacking in exclusive launch titles. While the PlayStation 5 boasts Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon Souls, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, the Series X mostly features enhanced ports of some of the Xbox One’s most notable exclusive experiences.
It seems those looking to buy the Series X can add one big game not available on any other console, however, with Darkflow Software’s Enlisted being announced as a timed-console exclusive. The MMO squad-based shooter’s “founder pack” will be available on launch day for the Xbox Series X and S, joining the console as part of the game’s early-access Game Preview lineup.
For those who aren’t aware of Enlisted, the game is a squad-based shooter that takes place during the second world war. Players will take on the role of a soldier and fight on authentic battlefields centered around some of the most grueling battles of the era, leading AI soldiers into the fray to simulate the scale of the historical conflict’s largest clashes.
The game looks to be much deeper than a simple shooter, however, with players able to unlock different characters who have access to a host of unique abilities. The player’s arsenal will also aim to be unique, with the game’s website claiming that weapons “will have their own features and their own history.”
According to a recent blog post, the game will support an advanced ray-tracing software called the Proprietary Ray Traced Global Illumination system, with Darkflow claiming it will make for a stunning experience on the Xbox Series X. Allegedly, the game will also run at 60 FPS, support 4K on the Series X, and boast a 1440p resolution on the Series S. The initial version releasing on Xbox Game Preview will be in beta, with players able to give feedback to the devs so they can help Enlisted reach its full potential.
According to the website’s FAQ section, the title will eventually be released as a free to play game, with players apparently favoring the distribution model in a survey distributed by the developers. Evidently, the aid of Microsoft and the Xbox Series X will be essential to the development of Enlisted, getting the shooter into the hands of a whole new platform. Seen as Microsoft is also in the market for some exclusive games to ship the console with, Enlisted is sure to be an enticing treat for diehard fans of the genre.
Enlisted will be available on Xbox Series X and S on November 10, with a PC release also in development.
