Ever want to eat a bantha steak and sip some bone broth at the same time? Well, now you can, thanks to the official metal Star Wars…sporks…now for sale at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Available at both Disneyland and Disneyworld, these sporks are based on the ones Galaxy’s Edge used in its restaurants shortly after opening. Though these launch sporks were unavailable for purchase, they became an unexpectedly popular black market souvenir, with enough guests stealing the sporks for Disney to eventually remove them from its restaurants in favor of more Earthly alternatives.
Still, though they’re no longer “temporarily†given to guests with their meals, Disney seems to have finally found a compromise with its new spork…sales…strategy. Now, visitors can optionally purchase the opening day-style sporks for keeps at the Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo restaurant, but with a catch. Each spork costs a wampa-sized $10.99, though you do get a small burlap carrying case for your trouble. That said, only one is available per guest, presumably to prevent scalping.

While sporks may not be the first thing to come to mind when picturing “exciting Star Wars memorabilia,†their utilitarian nature and rough metal exterior do recall the series’ used-future aesthetic, and they certainly have more practical use than the $200 lightsabers also available at Galaxy’s Edge. Now, you too can feel just like a Mandalorian or high-flying spice runner, even as you sit down in your sweatpants to eat some EZ Mac with a Coca-Cola.
Still, while it’s great that fans can now take this…oddly specific…piece of the Star Wars universe home with them, it’s also a shame that thieves had to ruin the dine-in experience for everyone not looking to spend eleven dollars on novelty utensils. Disney parks are known for their dedication to immersion, and having the sporks available to everyone at launch was a nice, unexpected example of their attention to detail. But smugglers gonna smuggle, I guess. Which raises the question- Disneyland…the happiest place on Earth, or wretched hive of scum and villainy?
