Following the launch and runaway success of Pokémon Sword & Shield last year, it was just a matter of time before we got the first Sword & Shield expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. While we got a sneak peek at the first Sword & Shield cards through the Galar Collection Boxes in December, today marks the release of the first full Sword & Shield expansion.
As the name implies, the emphasis of this expansion is on Pokémon featured in Sword & Shield. That means you can expect a heavy dose of all-new Pokémon (including Gigantamaxed versions and Legendaries), as well as Galarian forms of old favorites. However, that’s not all this expansion offers, as the Pokémon from past generations also appear throughout the expansion.
We were sent several booster packs, as well as all three themed decks. The themed decks feature the evolved forms of the starters, while the booster packs yielded several exciting pulls. Check out the gallery below for my favorite pulls from the new Sword & Shield expansion.
