Bethesda donates $1 million to fight coronavirus

Bethesda Softworks is donating a total of $1 million to charities aiding in coronavirus relief efforts.

The game publisher has announced it will be giving $500,000 to Direct Relief, a charity which provides protective gear to health care workers on the frontlines. An additional $250,000 will be donated to Unicef, aimed at helping children around the world. The final $250,000 will be given to coronavirus relief in the local areas surrounding its studios in North America and internationally, with those charities being picked separately by the individual offices.

In the meantime, Bethesda employees will be streaming games from home via Twitch as part of its #BethesdaAtHome effort. Those watching will have the chance to contribute to the previously mentioned charities during the streams.

Despite its work-from-home measures, Bethesda was still able to release Fallout 76’s free Wastelanders expansion on its expected launch date earlier this month. The expansion introduces NPC characters, dialogue trees, and new factions to the original game.
