Kerbal Space Program 2 pushed back to fall 2021

Kerbal Space Program 2 is not coming out this year.

Kerbal Space Program 2 has been delayed all the way until fall 2021 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Publisher Take-Two was the first to break the news on its Q4 earnings call last night, and the developer later reiterated it on Twitter.

The reason, as you may have already guessed, has to do with the coronavirus pandemic.

“As you all know, we’ve been working hard to make the best and most authentic KSP sequel possible,” a developer statement reads. “This is an ambitious goal. We are making a big, expansive game loaded with new features, but doing so will take longer than we previously anticipated.”

“With everything going on in the world today due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we’re facing many unique challenges that require more time to safely iterate, create, test, and make KSP2 as great as it can be,” it went on.

The development of Kerbal Space Program 2 moved to a new in-house studio earlier this year, which took over from the previous developer, Star Theory.

The publisher didn’t say why at the time, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Games Industry today that coronavirus is the only reason for the delay.
