After the runaway success of its 2018 Spider-Man title and today’s announcement of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac Games is returning to one of its most classic franchises with a new Ratchet & Clank title. The game is coming to PlayStation 5 and looks to be a visual and performance showcase for the new hardware.
The reveal trailer shows the duo jumping between dimensions using portals. The leaps between dimensions go impressively fast, potentially showcasing the speed capabilities of the PlayStation 5. Insomniac says Rift Apart was built from the ground up on the PlayStation 5 and delivers a density of life and objects previously unseen. In addition, Ratchet & Clank’s diverse arsenal is brought to life like never before thanks to the DualSense controller’s feedback.
The last time we saw an all-new Ratchet & Clank game was 2013’s Into the Nexus on PlayStation 3. Since then, Insomniac released a remake of the original game on PlayStation 4, but the franchise essentially skipped Sony’s fourth generation of home consoles. No date or release window was given for Ratachet & Clank: Rift Apart.
