Dead by Daylight players are still enjoying the game’s latest chapter and DLC characters that came with it. This would of course be the Silent Hill chapter that gave players access to both Pyramid Head and Cheryl Mason from the cult classic horror game series.
However, Dead by Daylight‘s newest chapter will be coming soon, with it being teased via a short trailer released on the official Dead by Daylight YouTube channel. The exact name of the chapter or identity of the killer hasn’t been revealed, though.
While there isn’t much that can be seen in the 17-second long trailer, plenty of Dead by Daylight fans have already began theorizing on what the killer could be.
Based on what had been shown in the trailer, it can be inferred that the next killer won’t be a licensed horror movie character and will instead be completely original to Dead by Daylight. Many have taken notice of the syringe injection sounds heard in the teaser and theorize that the killer could be Vigo, also known as the Alchemist.
Vigo is a Dead by Daylight character that is only slightly seen in one cutscene from the Archives. Most of the lore about him can be read via the Tomes available in-game and the various item and cosmetic descriptions available for survivors.
Within the game’s lore, he is also trapped inside the fog alongside the killers and survivors, but doesn’t participate in the trials. He instead studies the Entity and operates a lab that some of the survivors have stolen from in the past. Vigo additionally experimented on the bodies of the killers by injecting them with Putrid Serum, resulting in unlockable cosmetic outfits for them.
The Alchemist’s cutscene from the Tome’s shows him injecting himself with Putrid Serum to escape from a certain sub-dimension of the Entity’s realm. Considering the effects the Putrid Serum had on the killers he experimented on, the usage of it could result in him turning into a killer himself.
If Vigo is the next killer, his title may continue being “The Alchemist.” This would also make it the first time in Dead by Daylight‘s lore where a character in a “survivor” role has turned into a playable killer.
Another theory that players have that doesn’t go against the Vigo theory is that this new killer will be a werewolf. All that can be visually seen in the teaser is the silhouette of a human changing into something that can be interpreted as wolf-like.
Players will likely have a lot of time to theorize before a full reveal shows who is right and who is wrong. However, players will have to wait for that next trailer.
Dead by Daylight is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. It will release on Stadia in September.
