WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan is Starting His Own Twitch Channel

Daniel Bryan, the WWE superstar, isn’t much of a fan of video games. But he is a fan of fun and promotion. That’s why Bryan is now making the claim that he’s going to start his very own Twitch channel. Or, at the very least, Bryan is joking about starting his very own Twitch channel for promotional purposes. It’s always difficult to tell whether WWE wrestlers are being serious or not.

The story starts with a celebrity/influencer tournament for UFC 4 put on by Electronic Arts on Friday. The tournament included wrestlers like AEW’s Kenny Omega, UFC fighters like Max Holloway, and Twitch streamers like LIRIK. It also included Bryan’s wife, former WWE wrestler Brie Bella. Brie, unfortunately, lost her match against her twin sister Nikki, but a lot of fun was had. In fact, Daniel Bryan may have had even more fun watching his wife and sister-in-law playing and streaming than the ladies did.

In a tweet posted Friday evening, Bryan says, “I haven’t played video games since the original Nintendo, but I just watched my wife play #UFC4 on espn2 and was so inspired I’m starting my own Twitch.” The replies to the tweet were fast and extremely positive. Many of Bryan’s fans would love to see the WWE star streaming video games or just chatting on a routine basis.

What makes the tweet come across as a joke starts with a reply from WWE’s Renee Young. Young reminds Bryan of a 2012-2014 WWE partnership with streaming service Tout, which has since gone offline. “Wow, just abandoning your loyalty to Tout huh!? You’re their brand ambassador,” says Young. Bryan replies with, “Oh, I thought TOUT had morphed into Twitch and that’s why the kids love it so much. Is Twitch not TOUT?!!!” The joke may go over some fans’ heads, but it’s rather hilarious given the context.

Fans of Bryan aren’t the only ones who are skeptical of his intention to start a Twitch channel, however. Fellow WWE superstar Xavier Woods replied to Bryan’s first tweet with the Anchorman meme saying, “I don’t believe you.” Woods is perhaps the most well-known gamer at the WWE and host of the WWE-adjacent gaming Youtube channel Up Up Down Down.

Bryan wasn’t going to leave Woods’ response alone, of course. He replied, saying, “How dare you, sir! As if I would LIE on SOCIAL MEDIA about starting a @Twitch! I can also do a book club on the platform, right? Just you wait… #ShakingMyFist.” WWE fans will just have to wait to see whether Bryan follows through and makes a Twitch channel, but no one should hold their breath.
