Destiny 2 Spreadsheet Details Every Weapon Not Getting Sunset

When Destiny 2 Beyond Light releases in November, developer Bungie is going to be sunsetting a huge portion of its weapon and armor options. Commonly known as sunsetting, this concept is meant to pave the way for new items to rise to prominence but it also allows players some time to collect the best rolls of existing weapons.

To that end, vinfox on Reddit has created an extensive breakdown of the weapons in Destiny 2 that will not be sunset at the end of Season of Arrivals. That doesn’t mean that these weapons will be viable throughout year 4 – some will only last a season or two – but they will be useful at Beyond Light launch.

The spreadsheet has a section for each of the Destiny 2 weapon types and showcases the Legendary guns that will not be sunset, as well as the exotic weapons in that category. There is also key breakdowns of the time to kill for each weapon, what combination of precision hits and body hits lead to that TTK, and full chart of the weapon’s individual stats like Range, Handling, and Stability.

Vinfox gives full credit to Mercules, another member of the Destiny community that created an even more exhaustive breakdown, only this one was of every weapon in Destiny 2. The sunsetting weapons spreadsheet will help those who want to prepare for Beyond Light.

There are also some interesting details to pull out from the Destiny 2 sunsetting weapons breakdown. As most players have realized for a while now, Destiny 2 is sunsetting every legendary heavy machine gun except for one, the Seventh Seraph SAW. The hope is that Bungie plans to add at least enough new heavy machine guns to fit each element, but there is no guarantee.

On top of that, some archetypes with weapon categories will no longer have representatives when Beyond Light releases in November. The assumption is that Bungie will simply reissue some past weapons that fit those roles, but that might not go over very well with the community. One of the main criticisms surrounding weapon sunsetting in Destiny 2 is that it could merely force players to grind the same guns again.

Bungie has explained that sunsetting is meant to allow the developers the opportunity to introduce new, strong perks without worrying about trying to “beat” existing weapons. Power creep is certainly a problem for Destiny but only time will tell if this is the answer.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light releases November 10, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
