Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout: 5 Best Mini-Games (& The 5 Worst)

The game Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout, from Devolver Digital, is the new sensation. The game that mashes Mario Party mini-games and Battle Royale reached 2 million Steam downloads in one week. The PlayStation Plus numbers are absent but it seems like it’s doing well as a free game. There are several mini-games that the beans have to traverse to ultimately reach the crown.

The pure joy of stealing someone’s egg, hoarding through a small passageway like World War Z zombiesand getting slung across the map by twisting obstacles will put a smile on anyone’s face. Even though it can make gamers cry from joy, some mini-games are lacking compared to others. There are more than 10 Mini-games but these are subjectively the best and worst ones.

10 Worst: Perfect Match

Perfect Match has players memorizing tiles and jumping to the correct one before falling out of the game. The mini-game is too easy. It has simple memorization and players can follow the crowd to win.

Perfect Match usually knocks out two or three beans, which leads to an overly congested finale. This tile match game encourages bully behavior because it’s the only way to have fun when you’re subjected to the snooze fest that is Perfect Match.

9 Best: Tip-Toe

Tip-Toe is a much better take on a memory game. Players have to reach the finish line but only certain tiles will stay afloat. Winning this game requires some strategy and patience other players attempt to cross.

The beauty of Tip-Toe is that the aggressive approach works well too. The risky dive across tiles can be rewarding if it takes a player to the finish line. The funniest part of Tip-Toe is when all the players are on one tile waiting for someone else to make the first move.

8 Worst: Hoarders

It seems like there is no comeback in hoarders. If one team has an early lead then they will probably win the game. The game has three teams trying to keep their balls in their section of the map.

It usually involves chasing a ball the whole game and barely getting the change to hit it. If you do manage to get a ball in your zone then it will probably get knocked out in mere seconds. Players can either protect your zone or steal balls: both strategies are more aggravating than fun.

7 Best: Slime Climb

Slime Climb is the hardest race in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. It’s easy to fall off a platform and it gets congested easily. It’s also the only race to have slime flooding in from the bottom. Some people may see this mini-game and groan in disgust because their chances of winning just got a lot lower.

Slime Climb, though, is difficult without being unfair. It takes skills and short cuts to get first place. when players beat this race, they’ll have a sense of accomplishment, unlike any other mini-game offering.

6 Worst: Rock ‘N’ Roll

Rock ‘N’ Roll is a team game where a ball is pushed down an obstacle course and through the finish line. The obstacle course is easy but the annoyance comes from the last section where other teams can stop a ball. There is almost always a clear winner who manages to slip through the end without other teams interfering.

The remaining two teams are always in a stalemate because it’s surprisingly easy to block the ball. The predictability and lack of maneuvering towards the end makes Rock ‘N’ Roll a dud.

5 Best: Dizzy Heights

Dizzy Heights is another race that features large turntables and boulders to avoid. It’s a simple track but it’s fun to play. A bean can gain powerful momentum if they jump on the turntables the correct way and it’s exciting to solve the small puzzle as you make your way up the boulder ridden hill.

Dizzy Heights strikes the perfect balance between being too difficult and too dizzy making it an ideal starting track.

4 Worst: Royale Fumble

Royale Rumble is one of the worst games to end this battle royale on. There is one tail and whoever has the tail by the end wins. The grab mechanic is wonky and it’s difficult to grab the intended target.

A whole game based on this mechanic does not work, especially one with such big stakes-winning or losing the entire game. Since the last 10 seconds is the only thing that matters, the beginning of the mini-game seems like a waste of time as well.

3 Best: The Whirlygig

There are so many great parts of The Whirlygig, another race format mini-game. The greatest joy is seeing a group of beans thrown across the air by a fan or seeing one bean get shot straight up into the air. It’s pure chaos and it’s awesome.

Speaking of chaos, when the crowd of beans reaches the ledge, pictured above, it goes full black Friday. The great part about Whirlygig is that dangerous obstacles can be used to your advantage. The turning beans can launch a bean forward and passing the dangerously fast fan brings and advantageous shortcut.

2 Worst: Jinx

Jinx is a team game about infecting the opposing team within a time limit. Because everyone runs at the same speed and the map is rather boring, Jinx contradicts the fun nature of the other mini-games.

It also relies too heavily on team competency, like all the team games. You can do a good job but the win relies heavily on the team as a whole. A weird choice when Fally Guys is ultimately an individual game with an individual winner.

1 Best: Hex A Gone

Hex A Gone has players trying to stay on a tower of disappearing tiles for as long as possible. There is a great mix of strategy and action here. It’s stressful to jump around the tiles, especially when there are only a few left.

Hex A Gone is unlike other mini-games where everyone has an equal chance of winning and gives players the best chance at getting the crown. It’s too bad this one is so rare.
