FIFA 21 is less than 2 months away from being in players’ hands, and thanks to an update on the game’s listing on the Microsoft Store, it’s now known how much hard drive space fans will need to install the game before taking skills to the pitch.
The newest entry in the FIFA series, which features French player Kylian Mbappe as the cover athlete, will take up a minimum of 50.01 GB of free space once installed on the Xbox One. It’s expected the PS4 version will take up the same amount of space, as currently, FIFA 20 takes up just under 50 GB on both consoles, including updates made to the game.
FIFA 21 is one of many games EA is offering a free next-gen upgrade for to those that purchase a current-gen copy of the game, though no dates have been announced for both the new consoles and next-gen versions. The next-gen upgrade path is similar to EA Sports other mega-franchise, Madden NFL 21.
FIFA 21 is also seeing some significant changes as part of EA’s initiative to combat toxic behavior in its games. Announced earlier in the summer, EA will be implementing a better reporting system and moderating system to address harassment and bullying among players including cutting back on FIFA’s player celebrations. The new system is in response to fan feedback on Reddit after players described experiences in-game.
FIFA 21 will launch on the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 9 with the PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions coming at a later date.
