Rainbow Six Siege is about to get a pretty major update that adds brand new features and one very interesting operator. The Operation Shadow Legacy update adds Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell as a new operator for players to use in Rainbow Six Siege.
Sam Fisher coming to Rainbow Six Siege is extremely exciting, but hardcore fans of Rainbow Six Siege will be excited to hear about the new gameplay features. Operation Shadow Legacy is bringing brand new weapon scopes to the game, a reworked ping system, a complete rework of the Chalet map, and much more.
Rainbow Six Siege has been getting patched and updated a lot lately, with the futuristic MUTE Protocol event still going on. The MUTE Protocol event kicks off Season 2 of the game’s Year 5 content, and it put a new and interesting spin on the game’s Secure Area mode. Now, Ubisoft has released a trailer detailing all the changes and new content coming in the next major update to Rainbow Six Siege.
As mentioned above, the Operation Shadow Legacy update is adding the iconic Sam Fisher of Splinter Cell fame to the Siege as a playable operator. However, the update will be adding a ton of new features to Siege and quality of life changes, similar to the recent match cancellation feature added at the end of June. First, many of the game’s weapons are getting brand new scope options with new zoom levels, new sights, and an overhaul regarding which operators can use which scopes and sights.
Next, the snowy Chalet map is getting a complete reworking that changes aspects of the map’s layout and aesthetic design. The game’s ping system is also getting overhauled through the Ping 2.0 system, which gives players unique ping markers, contextual information, and the ability to ping from drones. The Ping 2.0 system is sure to make many of the best pro Rainbow Six Siege teams, or even just hardcore competitive players, very happy. Siege is also changing how reinforcement tools work, giving teams a shared pool of 10 tools that any player can use.
Finally, other weapons and tools are coming to the game like a secondary breaching weapon for attackers and a rework for the EMP grenade. A new match replay feature is entering an Alpha test phase so players can watch past matches. Finally, a map ban or vetoing system is coming to ranked and unranked modes to make map selection a bit less random. While most of these Rainbow Six Siege features were leaked online earlier this year, there is still plenty of new and unexpected changes coming to the game with the Operation Shadow Legacy update.
Rainbow Six Siege is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
