The search continues as the fourth Call of Duty 2020 video appears on the infamous teaser site. Thousands of players and fans tuned in this morning to view whatever history lesson that awaits them. What these lessons have to do with Call of Duty 2020 is unknown, but fans are sure each film holds the key to the official reveal.
The years in this new video are 1977 through 1978, the beginning of the Carter administration. Several controversial policies were enacted during this era but most fans know these years as the time when Elvis Presley died. Fans have risen above the initial “Cold War” era leaving many players wondering how far these videos will go.
The video had a focus on the political controversy of Carter’s welfare program mixed with the continual moving forward of the space program. Several strange commercials were mixed in, marking the first time that Activision has used copyrighted material in these broadcasts. References to the 70s mind control experiments were scattered about with apologies being issued towards those who were involved without knowing. Although the mind control experiments stopped, research into “Truth Drugs” continued with Soviet and US forces both believing LSD held the key to human behavior control. Near the 16 minute mark, the video dives into the woman’s suffrage movement with demonstrations for women’s right to vote forefront for several minutes. The end focused on the death of the pope before bouncing back to rewind and zooming to the beginning once again.
These videos have all been strange and filled with with news clips. Looking upon the list every tape has been updated with more numbers matching fan expectations. The videos are all the same in length, each holding different number digits. As with the others, a new Warzone bunker has opened up.
This time the video had a pink dot on the outside of it. This matches with a puzzle sequence found on Treyarch’s Instagram. Although these are outside the bunker and shed puzzles, they still match the problems that fans have discovered.
As with the last few videos, players and Streamers alike are convinced that more answers will be found with further videos. It is unknown how far in the future these videos will take players, but the entire experience has shaped fan expectations. As the videos continue to be shown, anticipation for the next title will continue to rise pushing fans to get closer to the official Call of Duty 2020 reveal.
Call of Duty 2020 is in development by Treyarch and Raven Software.
