Destiny 2: Player Finds a Way to Farm Kills While AFK | Game Rant

Destiny 2 players are grinding their way through the Solstice of Heroes event at the moment. While most objectives require player participation, some of the more basic ones have been found to be achievable even while AFK.

This year’s Destiny 2 summer event has been made easier with progress multipliers. Although Bungie did not advertise this feature on the official website, the studio has confirmed that the second and third characters of an account will have an easier time completing objectives.

The specific objective that can be farmed even while AFK requires the player to get 2,000 elemental final blows. An elemental (aka energy) primary weapon is perhaps the simplest way to get this done.

However, the Solar Empowerment buff can do the work for the player. This buff activates after collecting 30 solar obs on solar days and generates a long lasting field of damage around the player. Any enemy frail enough that is caught inside this aura burns to a crisp.

By going to the “Thrall hallway” inside the Shattered Throne dungeon and activating Solar Empowerment, players can simply sit idly while their kill count goes up. The buff doesn’t run out because the Thrall that rush the player also drop a solar orb since they die to a solar ability.

These orbs then get automatically collected, due to how close to the player the Thrall are as they perish. This loop replenishes the damaging aura before it can run out. This trick can only be done on solar days, which comes around every three days. Today, August 17, is a solar day so fans might want to hurry up if they’d like to try this method as soon as possible.

While solar days come and go, the Shattered Throne is now active all the time. However, this doesn’t mean the Thrall hallway inside Shattered Throne is easy to take advantage of, since players would have to get past a couple of combat encounters to reach there.

An alternative is The Whisper, a mission which also has its own claustrophobic, Taken Thrall room. By rushing past the first few jumping puzzles, players can reach the Thrall room inside The Whisper fairly quickly. This is important because the catch here is that the mission has a timer, allowing players to farm kills only for so long.

At the end of the day, this isn’t a must do. Fans might wind up getting most of the elemental kills done while doing other objectives if they play efficiently, but this is an interesting trick regardless.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
