Getting ahold of Destiny 2‘s Solstice Hero armor isn’t the easiest thing. Doing so requires quite a bit of time spent within the Trials of Osiris, which just so happens to be one of the most competitive PVP arenas in the game.
Trials of Osiris sees teams of three go against each other in an unforgiving elimination format. After each battle the player participates in, they are matched with more skilled teams until they manage to win seven matches in total or lose three matches. This can be a really fun challenge for those that enjoy Destiny 2‘s PVP.
For those that aren’t so good at it though, Trials of Osiris can be a real pain. Most Crucible-specific rewards can be accomplished by nearly anyone with enough dedication, but winning seven matches in Trials of Osiris might seem insurmountable. If so, this trick will help immensely.
Players have the option to reset their Trials Passage at any time, essentially wiping all wins and losses from the card and starting fresh. The easiest way to ensure seven wins in a reasonable amount of time is to reset the pass after each match, regardless of whether the player wins or loses. This works because of how matchmaking is handled in Trials of Osiris, as the game matches players with their opponents based on the number of matches they’ve played so far on their card, regardless of whether they’re wins or losses.
If a team loses their first match, they will almost always reset their pass, as it makes no sense to start a whole pass with nothing but a loss on it. As such, resetting one’s passage guarantees that players will either be facing someone who has already lost their first game (indicating that they are more likely to be less skilled) or just started a pass. This by no means guarantees victory, but it should maximize the chances of running into similarly PVP-challenged teams and result in more wins over time across the board.
Obviously, this is somewhat counter-intuitive to what Trials of Osiris is all about, but Destiny 2‘s PVE players do what they have to sometimes to get that sweet loot. When using this method, it definitely isn’t worth worrying about trying to go flawless or get to three victories, as it only works if the player resets after their first match even if it is a win.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
