Grand Theft Auto 5 has been one of the most successful games of all time and is set to be released on a third consecutive generation of consoles next year. The game is based in an open-world where players can enjoy almost every activity imaginable, and as a result, GTA 5 has been hugely popular for the last seven years. According to a leak, it now seems that players who use Google Stadia will have access to the game soon.
Google Stadia has struggled to capture the attention of the market as many have felt that the performance of the cloud-based gaming platform was too reliant on the internet infrastructure and this meant the quality of the service was inconsistent. On top of middling reviews for Stadia, gaming companies have appeared to be reluctant to collaborate with the service as it is not as popular as other platforms. However, the cloud streaming service is still managing to attract an increasing amount of developers.
Rockstar Mag, which reports on the activities on Rockstar Games, has claimed that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be coming to Stadia, much like Red Dead Redemption 2 has. The tweet did not supply a source or any kind of date for the arrival of the game but many fans are now expecting an announcement that suddenly lets players know when to expect the ported title. Given the continued success of the title, it seems that there will be a market for the title and this may be amplified on the Stadia because of its currently relatively limited roster.
The fan base of the Grand Theft Auto games appears to be split about the future of the franchise. While some players want a sequel to the game, others appear to be happy with the expansive online content that the game has used to add to its longevity. It appears that this online content in Grand Theft Auto 5 will continue into the next generation and it will be interesting to see how much longer the game can keep players entertained. At the moment the game is still a constant in gaming charts and as a result, bringing it to more platforms likely makes financial sense for all parties involved.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is still supplying fans with plenty of content, and Stadia players will undoubtedly appreciate having the critically acclaimed game in their gaming library. Whether the game will help boost sales of Stadia remains to be seen, but this move would be a testament to the enduring popularity of GTA 5.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with release on PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X expected for late 2021.
