Animal Farm, George Orwell’s 1945 renowned satire of Stalinist Russia and totalitarian regimes, is being adapted for a video game releasing this fall. The game is being co-created by publisher The Dairymen and Nerial, the studio behind the Reigns games, and will feature voice actors like Abubakar Salim, who voiced Bayek in Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
Animal Farm, which just celebrated its 75th anniversary yesterday, tells the story of a farm where the animals rise up against their drunken farm owner to create a better society for themselves. However, their aspirations are tainted by a group of pigs who become the decadent, totalitarian rulers of the farm and create a regime just as bad, if not worse, than the one the animals deposed. The 75th anniversary also marked the announcement of a video game, titled Orwell’s Animal Farm, based on the book. Being produced by Neria, the creators of monarchy as a Tinder app game Reigns, players will help the farm animals found a new Republic, guide its leaders, and determine which animals are the most equal of all.
As well as Neria, there are also quite a few other talented characters who’ll be working on Orwell’s Animal Farm. The narrator will be voiced by Abubakar Salim, who also voiced Bayek in Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Helping out with the game’s writing is award-winning interactive fiction designer Emily Short, who also works as Failbetter’s creative director, a studio known for games like Sunless Sea. Finally, the game will be published by “The Dairymen,” which consists of Bossa Studios founder Imre Jele and AppyNation founder Andy Payne.
Orwell’s Animal Farm is releasing this Fall for mobile platforms and PC.
