Apex Legends has managed to carve out its niche in the battle royale genre through its gameplay and character roster. The battle royale game has also used updates to keep players interested and engaged. Season 6 of Apex Legends is now on the horizon and alongside a new playable character and possible location to explore, there also seems to be a mysterious gun that has been uncovered by dataminers.
The team behind Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment, brought its known skills at creating enthralling first-person shooters from the acclaimed Titanfall games and have managed to create a game in the same universe. However, it is not only the universe that the games share, but it also seems that some of the files that were used in the development of Apex Legends also belonged to Titanfall and this complicates what weapon the dataminers may have found before the release of Season 6.
A weapon codenamed “Predator” was found in the code for Apex Legends and its neighboring code also noted “shell drops.” With these factors in mind, it seems that a new rifle or shotgun may be being introduced to the game. This code does run contrary to a bow that was spotted in the recent Apex Legends Season 6 trailer but both weapons could be coming to the game and this particular information could be connected to another weapon which featured in other promotional material. Some players believe that “Predator” will be a rifle that was spotted by fans during the Season 6 dev stream.
Season 6 of Apex Legends has now launched and it will be interesting to see what weapons players uncover alongside new characters and skins. Some content will likely be available sooner than others and this raises the issue of interpreting with datamining findings. While these files may one day enter the game, it is unclear when or how they will be used, and given the fact that files from Titanfall have found themselves in the game, this weapon may never actually debut in the game. With that said, it would be surprising if fans were not treated to a new weapon in this new season.
This code may be important in players uncovering what new weapons are coming to Apex Legends and many will be on the lookout for items that require shells after this leak. However, a new season can bring many changes and some players will want to enjoy the game and find new features organically as they progress. Either way, the new season of Apex Legends looks set to deliver plenty of new content.
