Call of Duty: Warzone developer Infinity Ward has confirmed a fix to a recent problem involving the FAMAS and its shotgun attachment after Warzone fans exploited the weapon’s power. The developers seem to have honed in on the problem involved in the weapon attachment.
For the last few days, big-named Warzone streamers have made videos bringing up the varying problems of the weapon combo. From weapon breakdown to demonstrations the many in the Warzone community could not believe the destructive force found with it.
The Shotgun attachment is an under-barrel upgrade available to several rifles. While normally it is considered a lesser attachment, on the FR 5.56 the weapon was capable of out-ranging every other shotgun in the game. To make it even more powerful, the weapon could allegedly one-shot fully armored opponents at ranges of 15 meters and more. Depending on the pellet spread, the weapon could stretch to even further distances with some players reporting kills as far as 25 meters out. The insane power of this weapon has unbalanced the game for the time being making it an immediate priority for Infinity Ward.
Infinity Ward’s tweet confirmed that the problem has been identified and that the development team is looking into a fix, and will share details as they become available. This gives fans hope that the FAMAS problem will be resolved soon, although the developers did not provide a time table as to when the fix would be implemented.
One theory of how this problem started boils down to the range buff of the FR 5.56 itself. The weapon may have accidentally applied its range buff to the shotgun attachment, which would explain why the range band has been skewed so massively. This theory accounts for not only the problem itself but the reason that it appeared so suddenly.
Thankfully, the low ammo capacity of the shotgun attachment and the low popularity of the FR 5.56 has reduced the impact of this bug. With news headlines and streamers all discussing the problem, there is an immediate upsurge of use, but the developers should have a fix implemented before it becomes a serious problem in the game’s community. The fast reply of the development team is reassuring for fans, as it shows that the developers are monitoring bug channels and are willing to implement immediate fixes when needed.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
