Hades Coming to Switch With Cross-Saves | Game Rant

Today’s livestream of the Indie World Showcase presented by Nintendo started out strong with the announcement that Supergiant Games’ rogue-lite hack-and-slash Hades will be coming to Nintendo Switch. Even more exciting, players who have been enjoying Hades on PC will not lose their progress thanks to cross-saves.

Hades is an isometric roguelike created by Supergiant Games set in the Greek underworld. The player takes on the role of Zagreus, Prince of the Underworld, and his goal is very clear: escape. Thanks to cross-saves between the PC and Nintendo Switch, players who have already sunk hours into this title won’t have to worry about starting over on the new platform.

Like many rogue-likes (or rogue-lites) this game is designed to be played repeatedly, with the story progression advancing with every death. “Each time you die, it’s like coming home,” said Amir Rao of Supergiant Games. “It’s a game you can sink dozens of hours into, and if you’ve already done so on PC, you’ll be able to transfer your progress.”

Gameplay for this isometric hack-n-slash roguelike is fairly straightforward, and should be easy for a newbie to pick up. Zagreus runs full speed through hellish procedurally generated terrain, swinging his sword through enemies as they appear to block his path. Enemies display health bars over their heads; red is normal, but the yellow ones are shielded and therefore resistant to being knocked around or stunned.

Reception for the game so far has been very good. Its first review on Metacritic scored an 88 out of 100. Reviews on Steam are overwhelmingly positive. The title is still early access, so there are certain story lines which have not been fleshed out completely and whole areas that are as-yet unbuilt, but so far players seem to think that this game has already proven its worth.

Fans who are already enjoying the game and who have fallen in love with the music should look into Supergiant Games’ 10th Anniversary Orchestral Album.

Hades is available now for PC and is coming to Nintendo Switch Fall 2020.
