It has been nearly a year since Obsidian Entertainment released The Outer Worlds, and the game continues to captivate fans with its in-depth gameplay, a wide variety of quest and customization systems, and open environments that are just out of this world. Now, for those who are interested to try out the game, it is worth noting that The Outer Worlds is currently discounted for consoles, slashing its price to the lowest it’s ever been.
Right now, players can pick up the PS4 and Xbox One versions of The Outer Worlds at Walmart for $27, which is 45% off its current list price of $49.99. It is worth noting that this is currently the most competitive price for The Outer Worlds given that other retailers are still offering it at full price. At the moment, it is unclear how long Walmart will offer The Outer Worlds at that price, but players interested should take advantage now while the offer is still available.
Unfortunately, the Switch version of the game remains at full price, which is understandable given that this version was just released last June. However, it appears that now is the perfect time for players on the PS4 and Xbox One to pick up the game not only because of its low price but also because Obsidian is set to release the game’s first DLC in a matter of weeks. In July, Obsidian Entertainment confirmed the first expansion for The Outer Worlds called Peril of Gorgon.
As expected, the announcement of the Peril of Gorgon DLC also included a preview trailer that was framed as if it was a preview for a cheesy B-movie. The expansion will have the crew of the Unreliable to travel to the Gorgon Asteroid in hopes of solving “the biggest mystery in the galaxy.” Players can expect all sorts of mayhem in the upcoming DLC expansion, which will introduce new characters to meet and new morally-challenging decisions to make.
Moreover, Obsidian Entertainment revealed that Peril of Gorgon will be packed full of new content and players can expect to spend between 6 to 8 hours on the new adventure. Additionally, the studio revealed that apart from new areas and storylines, Peril of Gorgon will also introduce a level cap increase by 3, which means that the new max level will now be 33. The Outer Worlds: Peril of Gorgon will release on September 4 to all platforms and is available to purchase separately for $14.99 or as part of the season pass, which is currently available for $24.99.
