Announced at the Nintendo Indie World Showcase presentation earlier today, along with a slew of other Indie titles, Torchlight 3 is the next entry in the action role-playing series by developer Echtra Games, and it will be coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
Less than a year after Torchlight 2 was brought over to the Nintendo console, the Nintendo Switch version of Torchlight 3 is coming, and with an exclusive Red Fairy pet. Torchlight 3 is currently in early access on Steam and there no word on if this is an indication of a full release of the game or if the early access version will be made available on the Nintendo Switch.
Originally an MMO called Torchlight Frontiers, Torchlight 3 was announced early in 2020 as the game’s direction was changed back into a more familiar Torchlight experience. The change came after an internal discussion within the developer resulting in the original 2019 release date being postponed and the step away from a free-to-play aspect. Torchlight 3 will still have online and offline game play, however offline characters cannot be brought online.
Torchlight 3 wasn’t the only game announced at the showcase today. Both Subnautica and its upcoming sequel Subnautica: Below Zero will see a Switch release in 2021 and Nintendo also surprised fans with a free multiplayer update for Untitled Goose Game. A few games announced are also launching on the console today including Evergate by Stone Lantern Games, Manifold Garden by William Chyr Studio, and Raji: An Ancient Epic by developer Nodding Heads Games and available now.
Torchlight 3 will launch this fall on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
