Xbox Will Soon Let Players Sign In to Multiple Devices At One Time

As Microsoft focuses on customer-friendly services, and the Xbox strategy moves towards being more than just a console, features and procedures need updating and changing to go along with that. Currently, only one Xbox account can be logged in at a time, but not for long.

Xbox, and Phil Spencer, have big ambitions for Project xCloud.  The video game streaming service allows players to log in and play games from their Android devices, and eventually on other screens like computers and perhaps smart TVs. But with the idea of Xbox content being able to be used on multiple pages, the possible need to use the account at the same time becomes more of a reality. So Xbox is changing its ways to fix that.

As of the day this article is being written, only one Xbox account can be logged into at a time. But according to a Windows Central report, Microsoft will be lifting restrictions and players can be logged into multiple services and devices. The exact time for when this will be allowed is not currently known, but it seems reasonable to assume that it will line up with Project xCloud being pushed as a service alongside the next-generation of consoles being released.

An important thing to note about the change is that Xbox users will not be able to play games on multiple accounts at once. But there will be no issue with someone using Netflix on the Xbox Series X and playing Gears Tactics on an android tablet, but not an iPad at this time, which fans aren’t happy about.

Because Project xCloud will be integrated with Xbox Games Pass Ultimate, users will have hundreds of games to choose from to stream and enjoy. More services on more devices mean that any specific Xbox Gamertag should be able to be logged in, and that is what Microsoft is doing.

As companies like Apple lean towards being isolated, which has specifically hurt Microsoft with not allowing Project xCloud to be on Apple devices, Xbox has a much more open mindset. The company has focused on forward-thinking moves, such as allowing its games to be played on many devices and enjoy sharing its IP with others, like Minecraft on PS4 or Banjo-Kazooie in Smash Bros Ultimate. Allowing more users to be on one Xbox account at a time is just the latest way the company is being consumer-friendly, which is a good thing for all.
