Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot‘s V-Jump magazine scans confirm the arrival of Super Saiyan Blue for both Goku and Vegeta in DLC 2, something which most fans had already assumed would be coming. Though this news may seem lackluster, it does confirm and de-confirm certain theories regarding the DLC, and could provide a hint about the release date of the DLC as well. It would have been nice to get more concrete information such as who DLC 2’s boss battle will be against or when the DLC will be coming out, but for now this limited information will have to do.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot released back in January, and in the 7 months since then, only one of the three promised DLCs has released. Until recently, there was absolutely no information about DLC 2 and even this most recent leak isn’t an official announcement from Bandai Namco (but is reliable nonetheless, as past information has been confirmed via this method). This has understandably left many fans frustrated, as players have paid for the season pass and still don’t know what they’ll be getting out of it. Unfortunately, Bandai Namco doesn’t seem keen on addressing this issue, as it has remained as tight lipped about the DLC content as ever, and will likely continue to do so.
Super Saiyan Blue doesn’t come as much of a shocker, as it is simply the next logical step for a form after Super Saiyan God, but its inclusion does confirm or back up some assumptions made about DLC 2. For starters, DLC 2 will have to be Dragon Ball Super content, so those wishing for DBZ movies will unfortunately have to put those dreams to rest. Goku and Vegeta use this form throughout the rest of Dragon Ball Super, so this doesn’t definitively narrow down which saga will be adapted, but it does point heavily towards either Resurrection F or the Universe 6 Saga.
The Future Trunks Saga and the Tournament of Power are characterized by Vegito Blue and Ultra Instinct/SSB Evolution respectively, and DLC 2 isn’t likely to skip all the way forward to either of these two sagas. That leaves fans mostly in the same place, expecting either Golden Frieza or Hit as the boss battle enemy for the upcoming DLC. The introduction of a new form and boss also further cements the assumption that DLC 2 will be just like DLC 1, consisting of training with Whis (if not a substitute) to reach level cap and unlock the transformation and then battling the new boss enemy.
It should be stated that there is no official release date for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 2 as of yet, but looking at patterns can give some insight as to when it might finally release. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot broke its own DLC pattern in the past, so instead this will look at the pattern of leaks. Typically speaking, once something comes up in the V Jump leaks, it is only a month or so away from releasing in the game. This doesn’t always hold true, as the card battle mode was leaked quite a while ago and is still absent, but it is a good starting place.
This one leak alone doesn’t say much, but if more news about the second DLC starts filtering through in the coming weeks, fans can expec that Bandai Namco will make an official announcement relatively soon. At that point, there shouldn’t be more than a month’s wait for DBZ: Kakarot DLC 2, meaning at the earliest, fans could expect a September release for Super Saiyan Blue and the new boss battle. With any luck, Bandai Namco will break its silence sooner than usual and get fans out of the dark.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
