Apex Legends: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Rampart

Everyone’s new favorite legend has a few tricks up her sleeve and quite the backstory to accompany it. Apex Legends always reveals their new characters with a flash and a flurry in the form of teasers, following a full-length trailer, depicting their backstories and, occasionally, other relationships with previous Legends.

While much was foretold in the early glimpses of Rampart, there’s more to this defensive player than many know.

10 These Are Her Best Partners

Friends aren’t the same as valued team members and when it comes to playing Rampart, she works best with Wattson and Lifeline. These two come in clutch when it comes time to set up tactical maneuvers in order to not only halt other teams in their tracks (literally), but also to take out entire squads. Wattson’s ability to set up pylons is enough to form a strong barrier with Rampart’s wall and with Lifeline to heal them all, it’s quite possible to be the last one standing.

9 Her Tactical Ability Provides An Extra Bonus Boost

Amped Cover provides a useful advantage for whichever team Rampart is playing for, lending an extra layer of defense when they have the high ground — or any other tactical location. However, there’s an added damage boost with this ability as well. While the ability charges once every 30 seconds, outgoing damage by the team crouching behind the barrier goes up 20%. This wall will temporarily block incoming fire while outgoing fire gives the defensive team a worthy advantage.

8 She Made A Name For Herself In Fighting Rings

While she is first and foremost a defensive player, according to her biography, Rampart also made an extraordinary name for herself in fighting rings before she was recruited as a legend.

Apex commissioner Kuben Blisk recruited her himself after she was hand-picked due to the reputation she had in dealing out damage. Her likable personality and quick-thinking in tough situations didn’t hurt her chances of being picked, either.

7 Rampart Was Also A Small Business Owner

Many legends come in with a backstory and Rampart’s is pretty empowering. As a small business owner, she worked her way through the ranks, gaining a reputation from those who partook in her customization and modding skills. As she modded weapons for others, she also modded her own gear, allowing her to have a great advantage over other people and now, over other squads.

6 The Customers To Her Shop Came From All Over

Rampart didn’t have a strictly elite list of underground shoppers and her clientele came from all over the place. Hailing from Gaia, she saw the likes of smugglers as well as high-end clients. Many of these became her regulars, and it quickly became known that any weapon made by Rampart was bound to have a significant advantage over all those in battle. Her signature weapons are some of the best around and her trailers make no secret of that.

5 Her Catchphrases Are Pretty Witty, Especially With Her Friends

Rampart’s reputation has made her name fairly well-circulated in the Outlands and as such, she’s friends with Bangalore and Gibraltar, both of whom are seen in her trailers. While she’s friendly with them due to her expert ways around a weapon, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re her perfect squad members — in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Her catchphrases, such as, ‘either a Care Package is coming or the sky’s just happy to see me’ along with her banter between fellow acquaintances, she’s a hard one to not love.

4 Anyone Can Use Her Ultimate Ability Weapon, Sheila

Sheila is her greatest advantage in any fight and is practically a built-in surefire thing when it comes to playing as Rampart. However, there’s always a downside and her ultimate ability does leave her somewhat vulnerable — when not equipped, her Minigun can be picked up and used by anyone, not just other members of the squad she’s part of.

3 Alternately, Grenades Cause The Worst Damage For This New Legend

While her tactical ability, Amped Cover, provides valuable protection for her squad, there’s also a solid way for enemy squads to take it down: Grenades.

While they’re not too commonly used when it comes to the battlefront, a few of these should be kept on-hand now that Rampart is in the mix, because it’s the only way to efficiently take down her barrier.

2 These Legends Are Her Worst Enemies, As Well

While she is friends with Bangalore, this legend is one of her finest opponents, as well. With the ability to set off smoke bombs to essentially destroy anyone’s line of sight — including Rampart’s — a weapon such as Sheila is virtually useless. Crypto is another opponent of Rampart who has the potential to neutralize Rampart’s shield as well as temporarily disabling her ultimate ability.

1 Fun Fact: All Of Rampart’s Skins Are Emblazoned With A Signature

Those who are keen on skins for their legends will find that Rampart’s are particularly special. Since she is a weaponsmith first and foremost, her weapons are emblazoned with the capital ‘R,’ signifying she’s the one who modded them and modded them to the best of their efficiency. It’s her insignia and it’s one that’s worthy of carrying for a serious legend.
