Sea of Thieves Details New August Events | Game Rant

Rare’s surprising tenacity in providing new content and rewards for Sea of Thieves players continues through August 2020. In a new trailer Rare details many of Sea of Thieves‘ ongoing and upcoming in-game events. Whether it’s the Summer of Sea of Thieves, the Wreck and Roll event, or the Hunters of the Deep event, there’s a huge variety of challenges and rewards to pursue this month. And that’s not even mentioning the more routine Daily Bounties and such.

The Summer of Sea of Thieves is the game’s newest big in-game event. It officially starts today, August 20, and will run through September 30.  It’s a veritable smorgasbord of challenges and loot. Specifically, there are 11 different unique challenges, each featuring four goals to finish before completion. Wrapping up three of a challenge’s goals earns a cosmetic and four earns a special title. The more goals completed, the better the loot, with the most exciting tiers of loot requiring players to complete a majority of the Summer of Sea of Thieves.

Next to the Summer of Sea of Thieves in importance are what Rare dubs Regular Events. Regular Events are scheduled tasks that typically happen once a week or daily. For example, Thursday’s specific event, Wreck and Roll, happens once every week. Wreck and Roll will grant Sea of Thieves players double the rewards for cashing in Shipwrecked Chests or Wrecker fish. There’s also the daily Gold Rush event, which lasts just two hours each day. Between 6:00 and 7:00 pm BST and PDT all cash earned is multiplied 1.5 times.

Further out is the Hunters of the Deep event, which will run between August 26 and September 8. The Hunters of the Deep event will task players to complete specific goals, which range from interacting with themed objects in the world or, as the name implies, hunting Megalodon. Completing these goals will reward sharks teeth, which can then be used to unlock event-exclusive cosmetics including a new sail, flag, hull, and figurehead for players’ ships.

Finally, and surprisingly, Rare doesn’t mention this in its trailer, but there’s a special event for Rare’s 35th Anniversary. It’s coming to a close on August 24, however, so players will have to rush to complete it. It tasks players with finding and completing a set of 5 challenges based on Easter Eggs from past Rare games within Sea of Thieves.

The 35th Anniversary challenges, all of August’s featured and regular events, as well as a variety of individual daily events, can all be found on the official Sea of Thieves Event Hub website. Players can log in and have all of their event progress tracked automatically, so they never miss out on any ongoing events. With so much going on in-game, it’s the perfect tool for dedicated Sea of Thieves fans. Stay tuned for more events to come in September and beyond.

Sea of Thieves is available now on PC and Xbox One, with Xbox Series X support planned in the future.
