Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has been out for less than a month, but given the incredible popularity it has amassed in that short time, it seems safe to say that Developer Digital and Mediatonic’s goofy game-show battle royale is here to stay. It also helps that they’re now teasing what’s to come in the next season.
Like all major battle royale games these days, Fall Guys has tied all of its mini-games and cosmetic rewards in a seasonal structure. As such, it’s been widely understood that the current opening season will give way to future seasons, and while Mediatonic has confirmed that Fall Guys Season 1 will end in a few weeks’ time, there haven’t been any real clues as to what will come after, or what will be included.
That will soon change, however, as it’s been confirmed that the first glimpse of Season 2 will be taking place next week at Gamescom. “Fall Guys is great and all….but what if I told you there is Fall Guys Season 2!” wrote host Geoff Keighley on Twitter this morning, where he announced that Mediatonic will have a “world premiere sneak peek” at the digital event’s Opening Night Live presentation this Thursday, August 27.
Keighley didn’t offer any clue as to what will be revealed, but “sneak peek” suggests that this will be just a teaser instead of a full reveal of what the next season will have to offer. Being that Gamescom’s Opening Night Live will essentially be an E3-esque press conference with several announcements from multiple companies, it would make sense for Mediatonic to save the details for later.
A safe guess is that Season 2 will introduce more of the same content players have been receiving so far, like mini-games, costumes, and a Battle Pass. Of course, there’s always the possibility that Mediatonic will have a few surprises in there as well. For all players know, they might see the worst team in Fall Guys be deleted from the game.
In an increasingly-crowded genre, Fall Guys has shaken up the common ideas of what makes a good battle royale, making it one of the most distinct games gaining steam these days. It’s going to be interesting to see where the game goes beyond Season 1, which, according to the in-game countdown, will wrap up on October 6. This implies that Season 2 will start on the following day, October 7, though fans will likely have to wait until Gamescom to find out for sure.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available for PC and PS4.
