Animal Crossing: New Horizons is, believe it or not, still selling incredibly well. In Japan, New Horizons is topping sales charts almost five months after its launch back in March.
Even still, New Horizons is getting plenty of attention on social media and from companies outside the gaming industry. Now, IKEA Taiwan is promoting an Animal Crossing-themed furniture catalog for 2021 and it’s pretty amazing.
Brands and organizations all over have been using Animal Crossing: New Horizons to advertise and promote themselves across social media. One recent example of this is the Detroit Lions using New Horizons to unveil their 2020 season schedule through a video on Twitter. With the game being an absolute phenomenon across the world during 2020, it’s no surprise that brands used the game for promotional purposes. Now, IKEA Taiwan is using Animal Crossing as a very fun companion piece to its official 2021 furniture catalog.
IKEA Taiwan released promotional images for its 2021 furniture catalog yesterday displaying new products that buyers can look forward to. However, the company also released an entire companion catalog photographed in New Horizons that mimics the official catalog as closely as possible. The IKEA Animal Crossing catalog uses furniture from the game to match up almost identically to the real-world catalog that shoppers can actually purchase next year. The official Facebook page for IKEA Taiwan gives a glimpse of the Animal Crossing 2021 catalog with over 14 images for fans to look through.
The Animal Crossing catalog also features various villagers and items from the games in the photos that recreate the official 2021 catalog. All in all, IKEA Taiwan really knocked it out of the park with its recreation in Animal Crossing. A favorite activity among members of the Animal Crossing community is to recreate iconic room designs from various pieces of media, such as a Gohan’s room from Dragon Ball in New Horizons. In a strange way, IKEA Taiwan captures that same spirit of recreation in its Animal Crossing catalog.
While the Animal Crossing: New Horizons hype train may have slowed down recently, the game has far exceeded expectations across the board. New Horizons has sold 22.4 million units worldwide and will likely far exceed that number by then end of the year. Through continuous updates and new content, the game is surely going to have legs well into 2021. Maybe IKEA Taiwan will even repeat this same Animal Crossing crossover for its official 2022 catalog.
