Studio Ghibli Museum to Re-Open to General Visitors | Game Rant

Good news for superfans of Studio Ghibli: the Ghibli Museum,  dedicated to the famous animation studio and its work, is planning to open its doors once again after a temporary closure due to COVID-19. According to the museum’s website, general purchase of tickets will be allowed starting August 25, after a month or so of limiting tickets to residents of the local city only.

Though the museum is planning to open its exhibits once again, it will still be maintaining caution, continuing its slow ramp up to normal operation. For the time being, the number of guests within location at any given time will be strictly limited, as will the operating hours of the facilities. Until the general ticket options open up, the museum will continue with its method of randomly selecting local residents for visits, allowing it to continue functioning in the time being.

The museum itself is a Ghibli fan’s dream come true, featuring lovely architecture and plenty of recreations of Ghibli’s iconic work, such as a 7 foot tall robot soldier from Castle in the Sky or the cat bus from My Neighbor TotoroIt also includes rotating special exhibits, as well as consistent showcases such as “Where A Film is Born,” depicting a creative workspace used by a hypothetical filmmaker where they will draw inspiration for the next film. Other locations within include the “Tri-Hawks” room (a pun based on the city’s name “Mi-taki,” which means “three hawks”) where visitors can freely browse books recommended by Ghibli’s own Hayao Miyazaki, and the Saturn Theater, which shows a Ghibli short that can only be seen at the museum.

Those interested should look into visiting soon, however, since the museum does plan to close its doors again soon. Once November and December roll around, the museum will be closing up in order to preform maintenance that cannot be done during normal operations, and no one will be allowed to visit. Thankfully, the theater is hoping to resume its normal operations in 2021, at which point anyone from anywhere will be allowed to relive the nostalgic memories of classic animated films.
