Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa Vs The Witcher’s Ciri: Who Would Win?

There was a time when Final Fantasy VII reigned supreme as one of the greatest video games of all time. The title is single-handedly responsible for sparking the sudden mass interest in JRPGs, leading to the PlayStation essentially becoming a hub for the role-playing market to run amok and create some truly unique and dazzling experiences.

However, games can only hold up for so long before technical prowess ascends to such an extent that the king on the throne is inevitably replaced. This is what happened with Final Fantasy VII over the years, and countless other games sat on the throne. One such title that ascended to greatness was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The characters of both these games are immensely powerful, and fans have been quite active in forming inane crossovers to decide how battles would play out. One such scenario that has gained quite some steam is a fight between Final Fantasy VII‘s Tifa and The Witcher 3‘s Ciri — two women who are considered by many to be epic characters and, more importantly, top tier fighters.

Here are five advantages each combatant has over the other in this hypothetical battle.

10 TIFA: Her Close-Combat Prowess Is Second To None

One thing that absolutely needs to be mentioned when it comes to this battle is Tifa’s prowess as a fighter. As an unofficial member of the Monk class, it goes without saying that Tifa’s hand-to-hand combat skills are truly extraordinary.

If Ciri isn’t careful enough, then she might find herself on the wrong end of a rapid series of punches, followed up with a finishing move that can truly spell the end for her in battle.

9 CIRI: She’s Learnt Swordsmanship From The Very Best

Geralt of Rivia is easily one of the most powerful fighters around, and his skills with a sword don’t even need to be played up. So, it goes without saying that his student would definitely learn a thing or two about how to stand on her own two feet with a blade.

Controlling Ciri in The Witcher 3 pretty much reinforces the fact that she can wield a blade expertly. So, while a blade might not be as fast as someone’s fists, one can put forth the argument that it’s certainly way more damaging.

8 TIFA: She’s Incredibly Quick On Her Feet

As a close-range combatant, Tifa needs to know when to throw a combination… and when to duck & weave to avoid any oncoming attacks. This agility can prove to be a major thorn in Ciri’s side.

Of course, it’s not like Ciri’s completely inept in this aspect…

7 CIRI: She Can Teleport Around With Ease

Ciri might not be the fastest fighter around, but a solid argument can be made that maybe she doesn’t really need to be all that fast in the first place.

After all, with the Elder Blood coursing within her, Ciri has access to a wide range of abilities… including the ability to teleport all over the place and leave her enemies dumbfounded.

6 TIFA: She Can Use Magic To Put Ciri In A Tough Spot

Of course, it’s not like melee combat is the only tool in Tifa’s moveset. If push comes to shove, her materia can definitely prove to be the deciding factor.

Throwing spells of varying elements at Ciri can cause her to rethink her strategy… that is, if she isn’t already burnt to a crisp, frozen solid, or shocked beyond her senses.

5 CIRI: Blink Is A Valuable Move In Her Arsenal

With Ciri’s Blink ability, she can quickly teleport behind enemies to hit them with her sword.

This ability to combine a defensive dodge into an offensive strike can certainly make things harder for Tifa, who will definitely have to bring her A-game if she wishes to attain victory in this grueling contest.

4 TIFA: She Can Summon Powerful Beings In Battle

However, Tifa has something up her sleeve that can place the odds in her favor — summons.

These godlike beings have immense destructive power and can lay waste to foes in seconds. It goes without saying that Ciri will have her hands full if Tifa decides to summon a creature in their battle.

3 CIRI: The Powers Of The Elder Blood Can Turn The Tide Of Battle

Of course, it’s not like Ciri doesn’t have any powerful tricks up her sleeve… although whether she can call upon her massive powers at will is definitely a concern.

However, there’s no denying that an emotional outburst from Ciri can bring forth immense power through the Elder Blood, which can prove to be a major thorn in Tifa’s side.

2 TIFA: Her Limit Break Can Decimate The Opposition

Of course, it would be impossible to talk about Tifa’s battle aptitude without mentioning a unique ability that can completely destroy enemies with a single hit.

Tifa’s Limit Breaks are some truly powerful moves that Ciri needs to watch out for. My Final Heaven is definitely a standout mention in this regard, and it goes without saying that this powerful punch can certainly take out Ciri in one blow.

1 CIRI: She Averted An Apocalyptic Event All By Her Lonesome

Credit must definitely be given to Ciri for taking care of The White Frost and saving the Continent from impending doom.

The most impressive part about this achievement is that she thwarted this event alone. Sure, she might’ve gotten some help to reach the point where she could confidently deal with The White Frost, but it would’ve still required a ton of power to achieve the same — power that can definitely tip the scales in her favor in this battle against Tifa.
