Gotham Knights Gameplay Trailer Flooded With Dislikes | Game Rant

After months of teases and years of anticipation, WB Games Montreal finally unveiled Gotham Knights at DC FanDome with a reveal trailer and a gameplay presentation. Unfortunately, fans have not responded well to the Gotham Knights gameplay presentation, with the trailer being flooded with dislikes on YouTube.

Since the Gotham Knights gameplay presentation was posted online, it has amassed 567 likes versus 1.2 thousand dislikes at the time of this writing, with the gap widening with each refresh. Browsing the comments section, it’s clear that there are a number of issues fans have with Gotham Knights after seeing the trailer. The main issue seems to be that fans are upset that Gotham Knights has co-op, loot, “bullet sponge” enemies, and other elements that are common in live service games. The RPG mechanics in general seem to be the main sticking point, with many negative comments about XP, level grinding, and the Mr. Freeze boss fight gameplay shown in the video.

Another issue that fans seem to have with Gotham Knights is the lack of Bruce Wayne. As confirmed by the Gotham Knights reveal trailer, Bruce Wayne is dead following the events of Arkham Knight (supposedly, anyway), and so he activates “Code Black.” This puts the titular Gotham Knights into action, with the team consisting of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin working together to keep Gotham City safe.

While many fans aren’t happy with the Gotham Knights gameplay, the reveal trailer has garnered the opposite reaction. So far, the Gotham Knights reveal trailer has 26,000 likes versus just 1.4 thousand dislikes. It seems more fans were sold on the Gotham Knights concept before actually seeing the gameplay in action, and so it will be interesting to see if the developers make any changes between now and its 2021 release date in response to this feedback.

It’s clear that there’s been a mixed reaction to Gotham Knights so far, but at least the trailers finally answered some long-lingering questions fans have had about the game. For example, the trailers finally confirm that the Court of Owls are the villains, which is something that had been rumored for months. The trailers also confirm that Gotham Knights supports co-op gameplay, which is something else that had been rumored for the game.

A lot of details for Gotham Knights were revealed at DC FanDome, but there’s still quite a bit about the new game that remains a mystery. More information should come to light in the months ahead, and it will be interesting to see how public opinion of the game changes over time.

Gotham Knights launches in 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
