Iron Man VR was updated on August 21 with a patch that includes additional weaponry for Iron Man, a New Game+ mode, and more.
Released in early July, Iron Man VR has since received multiple patches, mostly making tweaks and fixes to improve the core game experience. However, patch 1.06 brings new components to the game, according to Iron Man VR developer Camouflaj.
In a post on PlayStation.Blog, Camouflaj gameplay designer Blaine Higdon outlined patch 1.06’s additions, which include numerous weapons for the Iron Man suit. One such weapon is the Continuous Beam Repulsor, which fires narrow lasers for prolonged periods of time. Further, the Gravity Bomb is a device that pulls in nearby enemies, who players can then destroy using another weapon while bundled together, with the EM Charge Cannon and Micro Swarm homing weapon being the two remaining additions.
Camouflaj added two new game modes, as well. Along with the new “Ultimate” difficulty, a New Game+ mode gives players who completed Iron Man VR a reason to come back for another round, and it doesn’t take away any Research Points accrued in previous playthroughs.
There are several new Custom Art Decos included in the latest patch, with the Iron Patriot being one of the highlights. The Iron Patriot was originally a pre-order bonus, along with the Ultra Violet Armor, the Origin Armor, and the Vintage Armor.
Finally, the patch makes some quality-of-life tweaks, as previous updates did. While Camouflaj has improved load times, the developer has also enabled the ability to skip cutscenes prior to loading and two of the main story missions.
Although Iron Man VR wasn’t received very well at launch, Camouflaj’s consistency in updating the game with add-ons and improvements has fostered a better player experience. Perhaps players will see more of the same going forward.
Iron Man VR is currently available on PlayStation 4.
