Battle royale games like Apex Legends are constantly being updated, and for good reason. The meta for these games can become set in stone if left for too long, so constant rebalancing is key. Add to that the fact that hype cannot die down or players may lose interest, and there are ample reasons to keep new content flowing. Considering a new tropic island map was leaked for Apex Legends, it’s clear that flow is not stopping.
A side effect of the constant new content is that sometimes, unexpected consequences slip through the cracks. A game like Apex Legends goes through so many changes that bugs and exploits occur somewhat regularly. The playerbase is large as well, which means such bugs are often found and exploited at least a little before being patched.
All of this comes around to Loba, one of the more recent additions to the Legends of Apex Legends. Opinions are still somewhat split as to her effectiveness, but she certainly has some fans. There has even been some impressive cosplay of Loba by WWE’s Zelina Vega. But no amount of wrestling talent could mimic the glitch that a few players found for Loba that actually allows her to clip underground.
The glitch has a few key elements. For starters, it can only be done on World’s Edge and relates to some loot crates near a train stop. Ordinarily, these crates are underground until the train stops, at which point they rise from the ground for players to loot. Loba, however, can use her Black Market Boutique ultimate to access the crates underground. When the crate is open, the top of it sticks out from the floor and Loba can actually teleport inside it. Of all the best weapons in Apex Legends‘ Season 6, there’s a good chance no one predicted one would be a crate.
As shown in the clip from KingDududu, Loba can then teleport out of the chest again free and clear. There are a few implications for this. For one, a Loba being chased can hide in a chest and stay out of harm’s way easily. Thanks to the recent important Season 6 buffs, the cooldown on Loba’s ultimate has been lowered. This means she can use it to exploit the glitch more easily.
Of more pressing concern though is the question of whether or not this will allow Loba to avoid the circle as it closes in. There is precedent for players hiding under the map to avoid the circle, which is what happened with a recent Fortnite glitch. Hopefully Respawn will fix this particular glitch before too many shenanigans can occur.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
