Fall Guys Update Makes Great Change to Team Games | Game Rant

Fall Guys developer Mediatonic shared details on the game’s next major patch earlier today, but this morning’s small Fall Guys update saw a huge improvement made to the game, which initially went unmentioned. Team games, the most controversial feature in Fall Guys, have seen a change that is sure to result in a unanimously positive response.

As of today’s update, Fall Guys fans will no longer need to endure two team games in a row. Going forward, after every team-based round, at least one solo stage must be played before a team game appears back in the rotation. Given that this change was one of many directly inspired by player feedback, it is likely to go over very well with Fall Guys’ rapidly growing fanbase.

Team games are a controversial feature in Fall Guys, as they break up the pacing of solo challenges by forcing players to rely on random teammates. The community has been split on loving and hating these rounds, and likely always will be. Team games are a unique feature of Fall Guys that differentiates the game from the typical battle royale formula, and can either be fun or frustrating depending on who players get paired with and what type of mini-game they’re playing.

For those who hate team games, and even for those who enjoy them, this seems like a smart change on the part of Mediatonic. Going through two lengthy team games in a row, which almost always eliminates a large chunk of players, can lead to games feeling rushed and unbalanced.

With team games being a bit less prevalent in Fall Guys, players have a bit more control over whether they find their way into the final stages and bring home that coveted crown. If Fall Guys got a split-screen feature, team games may become a bit more enjoyable for some people, too.

This morning’s update made some other smart adjustments to some of the stages as well. Two tail-based games, Team Tail Tag and Royal Fumble, saw their timers shortened by thirty seconds. This should be another welcome change, as the grabbing mechanics have always been a bit finicky in the tail rounds. Fall Mountain’s maximum player count was also changed to 15. Had these changes been made earlier, maybe Timthetatman’s journey for a win would have been shorter.

Steam-exclusive skins for Half-Life and Team Fortress made their way to the PlayStation platform today too, joining Portal’s P-Body as some of the coolest skins in Fall Guys’ lineup. Players should find plenty of enjoyment playing in those game-themed skins, and as of today, those who struggle in team games should have even more fun knowing that they’ll be seeing a bit less Fall Ball from here on out.

Fall Guys is now available on PC and PS4.
